Eat my shorts!
I didn't completely sleep through my alarm this morning so I was able to get in an hour on the Gaulzetti. Great way to start a Friday.
Rode for an hour 45 this morning.
Signed up to coach my kids soccer team again (this time 6-7 year olds) - better watch Kicking and Screaming as a refresher.
I've made serious strides in my side project startup the last 3 days.

My friend Jonathan is an awesome mod.
Plus I just discovered that a cat whose photo I own was a movie star.
GO!
It is a fine Friday indeed: started w/1.5 hrs slow and mellow on the fixed gear winter beater bike, a bike I love! Then I bought my Season's Pass to Sugarloaf!! I am hot-n-heavy w/ski fever right now, which manifests itself in my morning dreams. I am going to rip the season apart! I feel strong as a bull, increased flexibility, core stability, and all that happy horse-shit that to me means I can stomp my buds into the ground, which sadly makes up for at least 75% of my motivation to get strong. ahha The weather this wknd is cool, dry, sunny, and windy!!! I'll be onboard by the crack of dawn tmmrw and won't step off til after sunset Sunday, sailing all wknd, well provisioned w/Goslings, beer, wine, eats, weed, and good company. I haven't a single complaint! Cheers!
you're not the lord of the flies
After almost a year of breathing through some orifice other than my nose or my mouth, I finally have the right medication, we bought this crazy good air cleaner for the bedroom that is really functional not some kind of marketing snake oil, I rode today and felt like I actually might not suck, and I think I/we/my doctor have my asthma under control. I am optimistic I can avoid bronchitis the way I used to by riding all winter long. Plus my wife no longer clobbers me for snoring in the middle of the night! Bonus!
I have no connection to high school people or follow their sports. I just happened to see on the news a story about the high school mountain biking team. There are three high schools in town that are normally the cross-town rivals. But the biking team is all three schools cooperating. The coach was interviewed and said, "It' another option for the kids besides the usual 'stick and ball' sports." They compete regionally and I guess are killing it. One of the girls interviewed says, "even on my worst day in cross-country I never had to worry about hitting a tree." It looked like the kids were having an absolute blast. Probably not much hazing going on where they will have to cancel the whole season. I'm going to have to go out and cheer them on. Cool!
Rode for almost 2 hours this morning.
It says it's 69 degrees right now? Seems a tad warmer. I saw people jogging in down vests this AM, seriously. I'll take the weather though.
Have a "soup party" planned for this weekend - (Don't Ask, nothing like the description in The Others Guys movie) - but Matt will be in attendance.

Loading up in a few minutes to head to Austin for the weekend for a cross race, the Texas Handmade Bike Show and some mountain biking. Should be a killer weekend.

Very cool. I had a similar reaction to an article about crew coming to high schools (More high schoolers get on board with rowing - The Boston Globe) - I think it has almost the same quote about stick-and-ball sports. Of course, I'm biased because my daughter did this in her HS days, and continues on as a DIII cox at college...
Which leads to my second happy thought: Head of the Charles tomorrow.
And thanks to a nudge from airedale, I'm listening to The Go-Betweens' "That Striped Sunlight Sound" at my desk. Oh yeah.
GO!

I all have my family close. It's a good day.

Yesterday was spent traveling from SeaTac to Midway/Chicago, and then driving to Minooka. Not really a fun day when one tries to keep a 14-month-old from a melt-down.
Last minute housing arrangements mean that the ride days changed. Which means that I got to ride this morning. 25 miles including a jaunt on the I&M Canal trail. I'm sane for another 24 hours...
