These are the daily photo updates that Darrell sends out through the build process... I thought is would be the best place to show off his work.

Cool - say hi for us. In the same time it takes for him to get the pics
to you, he can drop by too, and add color commentary as well atmco.

Re: Llewellyn Bikes
A few months ago one of my punters who has a Llewellyn Rando bike asked me why I am quiet on forums.
Well the truth is I was not willing to devote time to forums for a while as I had a queue of orders that grew to over 12 months delivery from time of deposit and that was not something I was comfortable about. I think the bragging rights of a long queue due to a low through put of production is not my ticket. So all work energy was directed into the frame making at the bench. I now have my queue at a much happier level.
Then in my spare time and Mary Ann's spare time we rebuilt our house in a big way (still not quite all done) and also the extension has a new sweet 5 x 6m workshop room just for my model engineering hobby that I want to re-energise (making live steam locomotives) and the setting up is close to completion. I also am involved with full size steam locomotives, studied hard for an advanced steam boiler ticket and passed, volunteer workshop and fireman duties (Fireman operates the boiler and crews the loco) on the stream loco at a heritage railway.

Also an ordinary director on the board of the Australian Railway Historical Society Queensland Division.
Also the chair of the Rosewood Railway management committee
so life is busy.
Over the last few years I have been working on the most interesting bike project that I have done for a long time and this is the Llewellyn Randonneur bicycle which I call the "Voyageur".
This was the coming together of all my ideas for a high quality Randonneur machine that is 100% contemporary with regards to features, materials and parts. No vintage or NOS parts, or nostalgic for it's own sake. The goal is non rattling totally reliable bicycle that will give many years of enjoyable trouble free service while looking sweet and maintaining its aesthetics. All the features are to ensure ease of cleaning and maintenance. Bags are attached by titanium over lock twist clips to the 100% stainless steel racks that I make to fit the frame set No straps! Internal wires and connector less front Son Delux generator hub. Many parts are stainless steel and there is no chrome or nickel plating! The pictures I will post is of bike that was originally intended to be exhibited at a bike show in Rome and then at the Australian Custom Bike show but both of those shows fell over, it fits me, but un ridden to this day, I would like to find it a happy home because riding a bike is still fraught with peril with my neck injury. But I hope to ride again soon if I still have this display bike. There are many hundreds of hours that goes into the making of my Voyageur randos, the front rack takes a full week, then there is the fitting up of the bags. Note: I do not use the upside down head light, it is unnecessary as M6 stainless screw secures the light to the threaded boss on the rack with a stainless lock nut behind. The friction of the light mounting can be adjusted and then locked totally firm for decades! I do not place bells on the side of the stem where when climbing one rips the side of your knee open.
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

You don't load the URL.
You right click on the image you want (after you select the size) and get the "image info".
Take THAT script and paste it within [IMG] [IMG]
Yours would be this:

Re: Part 2 BDC interview
Thanks Richard, I have to disable some things and a few other things to get it work
so if this one works
I have it licked
She was a sweetie, I met her at the dinner after the race after the race dinner but my handler had drive back to Brisbane and he was my transport , six hour drive, we got home at 3 am next morning
Oh well. Will never know!

Voyageur build essay starts.
The stuff is on the build trolley
I started with the head spacer machining as per the drawing of the frame design to fit under the punter's position points.
about to part off , on the most beautiful thing, the lathe
Spacer is done. Will be painted with the frame to compliment the aesthetics.
My first lug casting design was the stems lugs Circa 2004. 48 of the last 50 Llewellyns have done out the door with a bespoke lugged stem. Columbus supply me the Nivracrom tube for the extension tube. .80mm wall.

Making the stem for this Voyageur
if I did not have a lathe I might as well cut one hand off and poke an eye out
such a useful tool it is beautiful. This one has never missed a beat since 1987.
I have got a pristine Myford 254S which I metricated and currently setting up in my steam loco workshop
any how, a bit of lug elaboration. I have done some funky stuff but this is the asymmetrical style I like and have settled on
The lugs are stainless, silver brazed with a 56% ag brew
Fork Lug
Finish work, file to even the castings up, sand to smooth it all
Ready for paint
That is it for now, more pics soon.

The fabrication pics are cool, but why not share the insanely cool work you've been doing on the locomotive scene? Craftsmanship is craftmanship and folks here appreciate it all. Heck, toss it in FNL.

Some of my full size steam stuff is here

Model engineering workshop and my current loco build pics may come when I clear out my attachment over fill
but last night I bolted the Myford 254 to the floor, fitted the coolant pump to the Myford and next is the leveling of the lathe bed and testing.
ARHSQD board meeting tonight and then tomorrow I am at the railway. Sunday I need to clean house and help banish the weeds from the Garden.

This Voyageur's lug shaping
I desired a bit of elaboration, but not too much and I did not have energy for the Lucentezza polish.
So I hacked into a set of my "Custodian" lugs. OS and level top tube. I like these curves with I call Nigella.
whirrssssszzzzzz, drill here, drill here and a drill here
file file file, if there is cricket on the radio
WHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR cannot hear test cricket on the radio
before and after
