You won't be poor for long. What town are you moving to? Congratulations!

Flying home to see my wife and kids. More love than one guy deserves.

Let me revise my statement as it won't be Marin. Still, it won't be too bad. we're hoping for somewhere in Bucks PA as close to the Delaware river valley as we can afford.

My bonus hit my bank acct overnight. The vast majority of it goes straight to savings but I am also going to do a little bike trailer shopping soon so I can take the munchkin out when it warms up.

That is cycling heaven. Beautiful country. Fortunately for you, housing prices are still slow to recover in a lot of areas after the downturn. Friends planning their Manhattan exile are looking in Riegelsville for a house/art studio and they have seen a number of well-built houses from the early twentieth century in their price range (~$250K.)

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
Picked up my new Outback, cascaded my 05 Outback to son #1, put his/my old 99 Accord on CL, 4 calls within 15 min of posting, sold hassle-free locally for exactly what I wanted to get out of it. I'm not really into cars so I did the CL thing with some trepidation but things worked out well all the way around.
This thread always makes me smile at the gratitude expressed by all, and how people look for the best even in crappy situations.

It may be 15 now, but the next week or so looks like this, and the chance of precipitation never goes above 20%:
Saturday: 36
Sunday: 40
Monday: 43
Tuesday: 45
Wednesday: 46
Thursday: 37
Friday: 35
Saturday: 39
Sunday: 38
I am looking forward to seeing dirty bare ground and piles of anonymous trash replace the gargantuan mounds of black and gray snow. And maybe even riding a bicycle out of doors.
But first I'll go visit the kid at school in Noho. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

Pretty soon volleysoccerbaseball will consume much of our extracurricular lives, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoying watching the kids develop skills and teamwork and friendships along the way. Above all, play.
And this guy.

Be sure to hook up with the eastern PA randonuers. It's a great group of people. That is great country to ride.

Amen to that!
I just need to remember to keep my chain really clean because all of the leftover salt on the roads can rust them quickly.

It's forecast to be in the low 70s for the high this weekend (us Bay Areans need to find some justification for the outrageous cost-of-living somehow) AND my 11-yr-old daughter just told me she wants to do part of my century in May with me.
Plus, Happy National Frozen Foods Day!

Today is (supposed to be) Chicago's last sub-freezing day for awhile, and we are going to be swimming in mud for the next 2 weeks. I realized this just after I dropped my dog at the groomer this morning. (Mainly to get her nails clipped and hair trimmed, but I am undoubtedly going to be giving lots more unplanned dog baths in the coming days.)
Fenders going back on my commuter bike this weekend.

Re: Grumps can suck it, it's Friday!
I had a constructive and productive day at the Women in Aviation, Int. conference and career fair in Dallas. I'm hopeful that it will result in a phone call. My travel to and from Dallas was as uneventful as could be expected given the stormy weather and I met a bunch of great men and women in my industry who work for other companies and I think a constructive time was had by all. This is an organization that promotes women's interests in what has historically been a male-dominated industry. It was excellent and I'm glad I attended my first conference sponsored by this group. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.
These types of events are often noteworthy in my industry for their incredible lack of organization but this one was, by far, the best one I've ever attended. Well done WAI!
The only associated grump is that it caused me to miss NAHBS. Hopefully next year I can do both!

There was plenty of that for you in Kona. But yet you went back to Boston for that. Snow on the big island summits his week, though.

One of my local riding buddies is in Kona now, posting strings of photos. It's like she's reverse stalking me, two months in arrears.
Hey, the grump thread is closed.

Ask her how she likes riding in the headwinds.

Got to ride the Argonaut this afternoon for about 20 miles. My mechanical skills are still valid, the multi-tool stayed in my jersey pocket for the entire ride. New cables, housing, cassette, and chain all worked perfectly.
It's my wife's birthday, I got her new tires for her car. They cost about the same as a Louis V purse. She'll eventually appreciate them.
I head off to AZ on Sunday and it's supposed to be in the mid 80's all week. I'm going to drink all TMB's beer.
