Good news on this - I've spoken to my sister and she's psyched.

We'll have decide how much other stuff we want to do there (museums, restaurants (we're both vegetarians, so no BBQ) etc.). I've driven through KC quite a few times, but never stopped, so this will be a first-time visit.

The Midland is a great venue.

Take the train over with a bike if you have time and ride the Katy Trail back to StL if that's your thing. Sept is a good time. Or bring a mtb if you have one and join me for a ride - we're spoiled here with great singletrack (as is StL if I recall).

When I was running a shop in Williamstown, the Wilco road managers called us up and asked to rent bikes for Jeff Tweedy and his family while they were in town for Solid Sound. In lieu of rental fees, they offered up passes for the full festival - which turned out to be super swank all access passes that got us into green rooms, free food, swag, etc.

The Mountain Goat, on Water Street. I was there 2007-2011. I worked there off and on when I was in and out of college in the late 80's and 90-91 too. Former Spoke employee too. Come to Solid Sound, we can go for a ride.

Last weekend was busy: English Beat on Friday for the third time in 10 months -- getting a bit tired of them now -- and The Purple Ones, a Prince cover band on Saturday. The Purple Ones absolutely kicked ass!
