Saw them by chance in Brazil a few years back. They were on my flight. I couldn't hear for at least a day. Seriously loud concert.

Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.

I think I'll get tickets as well to a small venue in my hood. Love the range of this group.

my bandmate setup a show at a yoga studio, it was last night. mind blowing.
    these dudes played, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_(jazz_band)

funny thing was, since our band is loud and noisy but not free jazz, the thing got to play real loud and crazy...the sax player (mats gustaffson, heavy accent) said to some people looking to sit on the floor, "no need to sit, this is not going to be some intellectual shit" then they went off right into a very hard and heavy hitting set. followed by another...

they are playing tonight at a real club with james blood ulmer so they can play the set that caters to all the jazz nerds with the special pens and that need seating to enjoy it...my joke with the bandmates whenever we play or attend a jazz show is that "(insert name) got every howard moon in austin out tonight."

I heard an interview with Bruce Dickenson on CBC radio - hhe seems like a really cool guy. You probably already know this, but he flies the band's plane between shows.

To continue the splinterism of the music threads, ha ha ha ha

    - Buddy Guy, last Wednesday - no less than his f'ing best, as he said. Sometimes it is really nice to go get your ears pinned back by a crazy guy ripping the hell out of a completely overdriven Strat. The best part was when he did the walk the crowd thing, stopped and stared at some kid and said "Can you play?" the kid said no, Buddy said really? Here, hit a chord, the kid hit the guitar, Buddy said "You can too play, want to come on stage?" and some kid named Matthew that looked maybe 14 years old came up was handed one of Buddy Guy's back up guitars and turned out the kid could actually play! They went back and forth, finally Buddy Guy ripped off some fast lines and the kid just laughed and said "I'm not that fast!" to which Buddy Guy said "Kid, when I was your age I couldn't play the f-ing radio. You're good." Fun stuff.

    - Boz Scaggs, Friday: Kind of OK. Smooth, cool, great backup singer named Monet (sp?). Saved the show with "Somebody Loan Me A Dime" and "Last Tango on 16th Street" at the end.

    - Marshall Crenshaw Saturday: Eh. Not a favorite, listened hard to his writing and was not too impressed. John Prine or Robert Earl Keen he is not.

    - Ricky Skaggs, Ry Cooder, Sharon White: Don't miss them if they come to your town. As they said, nothing newer than 1965 except for the bass player and the drummer (Cooder's son Joachim). Old country, gospel, voices, Sharon White's sister singing harmony, their dad Buck White playing absolutely classic country piano plus the gospel, Skaggs mandolin (plus violin and guitar), Ry Cooder everything. Highlight of the year, hands down. The freaking voices. I'm not devout anything and I was really moved.

And we signed up for Stephane Wrembel at the Van Dyck this Friday. Looking much forward to that... jazz and gypsy guitar.

Just saw the English Beat (or The Beat, depending on which side of the Atlantic you reside) in a 600 seat theater in Florida. Good show, but no Ranking Roger (replaced by King Schascha who added some youthful spirit).

Still sad I missed Cooder Skaggs White when they were in town. It was a must see that I missed.

But I did see Richard Thompson trio last Thursday in a 600 seat hall. If you've never seen RT, you owe it to yourself to go. He is one of the all time great acoustic and electric guitars and songwriters and he is absolutely at the top of his game.

Tonight, Chris Thile doing Bach. I never miss a chance to see Chris.
