Default Flap over rucksack/daysack. Any suggestion?

I know, I know, I am terribly retro and whenever I have to use one, I just can't get on with "modern" daysacks.
Those anatomically shaped compartments divided by 3 or 4 zips they do really annoy me, I am the kind of guy that has his little things in their own little bags (bike tools, hand-size medical essentials, etc.) so I can easily move things from a daysack to a bike bag, depending where I'm going.
Call me lazy, but I can't be asked to remember the location of things for every bag, I'm used to independent pack organizers. And I like square/rectangular shapes, and I like the old style flap over rather than zips.

So far, the only thing I can see in a decent size -25-30lt- is the Flap Pack from Topo Design.

It is very nice, and having seen another of their packs they are indeed very well made.
    Aside from this, any suggestion?

    Thanks!

Check out Frost River. I've not had a pack, but my luggage and briefcase from them is tough. Certainly in line with the "to heck with your new-fangled" approach.

Trakke in Glasgow make stupendously nice bags. I have bought a couple of them now, and it is only a matter of time before I buy another.

The Bailey Works Citi Pack fits the bill, albeit a bit more bike specific.

I kind of have a thing for Klettersacks, the Jandd Tozi Kletter is one I have had for years.

Patagonia Arbor pack. 26L. Has a laptop sleeve but it is pretty minimal overall.

I'm not sure if they ship internationally, but Duluth Pack makes great "traditional" styles. Check out the scout master.

Not here, too expensive, like PAC Designs and Mission Workshop: they're for the rich ones!
(btw, they're "expensive" but will last forever, I would buy again my PAC Ultimate)

U.S. Military Surplus Alice Pack with Straps, Used - 640904, Rucksacks & Backpacks at Sportsman's Guide

Here you go. Without the frame for everyday use. With frame for those 30 mile rucks. Extra manliness points if it's ever been down range.

If you want cheap, look for Swiss Military surplus rucksacks. They come in fabric and rubber coated fabric, usually with leather straps and felt padded shoulder harness. Old old design, but good bag, solid workmanship.

Thanks, but that is really overkill!

I had no doubt they won't be really "cheap" online, is one of those things that you have to grab in the cluttered Army Surplus shop, often in a damp basement

Filson has a couple models that you might like. I was given one of their briefcases recently and I've been very happy with it.

Everyone from J. Crew to wannabes with instasham accounts are hocking these for $200+. Just grab the first fashionably irrelevant someone who moved on from looking like they work on a farm and survey the woods by foot daily and offer them 1/10 retail. Shame is a powerful buying tactic.

    Yep, saw them.
They do look very nice, but at that price point I'd rather go for something more modern like Topo Designs, or Mission Workshop.

I like bags made with natural materials, that's one of the reason I've chosen Carradice for a set of bike bags.

I don't get those folks around here, would be easier to grab some Duck Cotton and make a bag by myself
    (I'm actually thinking about!)

Not much hipster street style cred with Goruck, but the GR1 is the best rucksack I've used. It's pricey but it will last as long as you want to use it based on the construction and materials. Truly bomber.
