so...yeah, apparently 'writing instruments' is quite another rabbit hole to fall down. that leads to mechanical pencils...and don't forget that eraser.

still have my eye on a Render K, but might pull the trigger on a Lamy 2000 rollerball, and a couple things from NockCo...and a Uni-ball Kuru Toga. Simply because the mechanism inside that thing really intrigues me.

    --edit--

pulled the trigger on a Lamy 2000 RB and Kuru Toga.

My mother remembered me mentioning I wanted a new pen and surprised me with this for Christmas.

Nothing fancy but looks much nicer that a bic clic stick.

I have a Lamy 2000 FP that I use as my daily pen in the office. I love it (and the hooded nib makes it stand out less to people who have negative associations with fountain pen users).

This is why I picked up a Lamy 2000 as well. I had started attending many meetings for a particularly-complex job and I started getting comments about my pen. That and I wanted a slightly finer point than a Pelikan medium for markup and notes.

Hmm, I just looked these up to see if they were still available. They are. And they come in matte black. I might need one.

I either use the Zebra 301 or the Fisher Cap-o-matic space pen. A nice pen and a nice pad makes me take better notes.

The way the mechanism works is really, really cool. Feels good in the hand, too, which was a concern. Only bummer is the eraser. I was thinking it was a full size one, not the little tiny thing. So I was about 15mins yesterday, again, reading up on erasers.

I didn't realize Japan had such a thing for writing instruments. It's kind of interesting.

Ordered up the brass Render K G2 yesterday. Machined Brass Pen Was gonna go for the EDK, but with the Render being on sale, plus a coupon, figured why not. Hoping it'll develop a patina like my old sax did.

Yea, I'm a fan myself. I use a pencil pretty much exclusively, unless I need to sign something. I just like the way a good pencil writes better than a pen. At the office, this gets used pretty much daily. Also .5

And paper. I typically only use Japanese notebooks. The paper is so nice. I usually get ones from Apica, which also have the added benefit of a fantastic description on the cover. "Most advanced quality gives best writing features & gives satisfaction to you."

I have the copper version and I was also surprised by the weight. Mine is the standard Render K and I use Hi-Tec C refills in .3. The weight really took some getting used to, particularly with such a fine tip, and I really had a lot of worry that I should have gone with aluminum. The beauty of the copper made me stick with it and I'm glad I did as I grew accustomed to it in about a week. I recently picked up a Tactile Turn Mover in aluminum and as much as I love the pen, I regret that I didn't go with brass. Now that I'm used to the copper Render K, the aluminum Mover almost feels disposable - in its weight, certainly not quality.

Glad you like it. Carrying and writing with both of these pens brings me joy throughout the day. Love them both.

i use the same one in silver

here it is the pencil next to the parker '51

distinct hooded nib on the parker

Finally, for those of you looking for a cheaper introduction, this is the plunger adaptor for the lamy fountain pens you can pick up for about 25$, then the plunger is another 10$ or so. This opens you up to the world of premium inks, which are often far nicer then what you will find in a cartridge refill
