Re: pens
Parker jotter + fisher space pen insert. The ability to put a piece of paper up against a wall and write all over it is awesome. The jotter is classic quality without being totally over the top. The cost isn't so high that when I get penjacked I don't need to hunt people down. They fit in small pen pockets and also work on write in the rain paper for cue sheets...

Re: pens
Got an email from Schon Design today - there's a load of 'factory seconds' on their webstore at the moment, which are actually just pens leftover from shows he has taken them to. It includes the Ti one that I have, for only $150.
He also has 2 new stainless pens available.
Oh, and there's a discount code for an extra 10% off: springishere

Re: pens
those are nice, but I can't imagine spending that much on a rollerball..
think of it like the clincher/tubular debate

Re: pens
pens are fun, fountain especially.

Re: pens
Ok... I need some input.
How do you sell a pen?
Ebay is dangerous, and they
just sit on Craig's List.
What venue do you use?
Pen store?

Re: pens
Watchuseek has a pen forum, I believe.

Re: pens
I have not sold a pen yet. If you have the same chirality as a young graduate corrupt them with a nice pen and your favorite ink.

Re: pens
fountain pen network is pretty good for fountain pen stuff
there is probably a subreddit for this as well.

so, i don't lose things. ever. socks...clothes...pens...i don't lose things. very habitual about where i place items.
somehow, some way, i lost my brass Render K. 99% sure someone picked it up off of my desk and walked off with it. was here at 5pm, on my plans, not here at 8am.
this actually happened a few weeks ago, and i've since reorganized my office, and added a standing desk...it would've popped up. i've been slowly looking at co-workers desks to see if it shows up...nada so far.

Re: pens
I'm looking for a gel refill for a Parker Jotter with green ink and a tip of at least .7mm. Any leads?
-
Re: pens
Just to answer my own question, in case anyone else has a future need for a green refill for some odd reason.
I tried a Fisher Space Pen refill in green, but the shade of green was too dark for my purpose, and the nib fit slightly loose in the tip of the pen barrel (SS Jotter), so it wiggled a bit when writing and clicked.
I then went to a Moleskin refill, which has a much brighter shade, fits snuggly in the pen barrel, and writes very smoothly. Success. I'll probably pick up a few blue and black refills for other pens, too.

Any luck yet?
My Render K is my primary work pen. It's in my hand every time I get up from my desk, if for no other reason than I like to have it in hand. I try to be very conscious of not setting it down somewhere by accident!

Still no luck. I've snuck into everyone's office. It's gone. Considering replacing given the Black Friday sale they're having.

Re: pens
i just got a new pen
pilot custom 823 in clear with the 14k FA nib
thing is pretty slick, the FA nib replicates writing with a brush
-
Re: pens
In some ways a "slower" pen improves my handwriting for a longhand card or letter.
If the ink is too slick or slippery, the pen can almost get away from you.
Some of my neatest notes to friends have been done in pencil. Just wish the lead was darker.

Re: pens
different nibs have different amounts of feedback
if you have a pen you adore but the nib doesnt jive with you there are many nibmeisters you can send the pen to for adjustment

Re: pens
I just bought a nakaya writer with the discontinued ao-tamenuri finish. Rhodium tip, modified to be broad italic. I hope I don't end up regretting it... it's way more than I feel completely ok with spending on a pen.

Re: pens
These are probably the fountain pen equivalent of a Bikesdirect.com single-speed, but today I received 6 Pilot Varsity disposable fountain pens.
I got them on a lark, but so far so good. The ink is nice and black, without any issues. Obviously no nib will ever be as smooth as say, a Uni-Ball Jetstream (IMO the smoothest and best affordable pen out there – you owe it to yourself to try one if you haven’t yet), but at $2 per pen, the Varsity’s pretty cool. The only real issue is that they aren’t easy to find locally, and you may have to go online.
-
Re: pens
the only place a fountain nib will be 'rougher' than a rollerball is with very fine nibs. A properly tuned medium or even fine nib can be smooth enough to bother almost all writers
with the varsity I'm pretty sure you can pull the feed unit out and refill them if you want
