Default Job Opening at Stinner Frameworks

As a long-time lurker and occasional poster on the Salon, I thought I'd post our recent opening here. Please see the job description below:

    --

Stinner Frameworks is looking for a skilled fabricator that has a high attention to detail, performs high quality work, possesses excellent work ethic, and has a love for bicycles. Stinner is a Goleta, CA based manufacturer of high quality bicycle frames, and we are built around a one piece flow manufacturing line. Our Lead Fabricator will be responsible for cutting, mitering, machining and assembling all of the parts that go into making a bicycle frame. We primarily work with thin-wall steel and titanium tubing to create road, mountain, cyclocross, and gravel bikes.

The lead fabricator will be responsible for continuous improvement of production processes, and for working as a key part of our team. It is important that the work performed by the Lead Fabricator meet the standards needed to produce our bikes and exceed our customers’ expectations. We are looking for a candidate that has bicycle experience, and that understands today’s bike market trends. This candidate should have manual machine knowledge (vertical mill, horizontal mill, lathe, etc.). This candidate will ideally have experience building fixtures and tooling for machining. The candidate should be responsible, independent, and detail-oriented.

Most importantly, this candidate NEEDS to have a positive attitude, be a problem solver, and be a team player. Interested parties should submit a resume and cover letter to info@stinnerframeworks.com.

Out of curiosity, what sort of timescale were you looking to fulfil this position? I'd be seriously tempted to put my name in the hat, but obviously logistically the UK to US thing wouldn't be as straightforward as a domestic applicant.

Having been through the resident alien/green card process myself I can tell you that the word "straightforward" isn't even remotely involved in describing it...

On a more serious note, they'd have to prove (to USCIS) that you posses skills that they have been unable to find in any candidates who are already U.S citizens/resident aliens. Plus they'd have to be willing to go through the whole rigmarole of all the paperwork and waiting time involved.

Wouldn't hurt to ask I suppose.

I assumed the green card thing would be a nightmare as you say. That's interesting regarding the skill proving and domestic candidates too, I didn't realise that was the process that the USCIS take but I can see it from their point of view.

Hey, good luck to you mate. While Leeds is a fine place (and one of my favorite bands of all time, The Wedding Present, hail from there), I think you'd find the environs of Santa Barbara to be quite an upgrade..

    Cheers.
