Hillary Clinton... what a fiasco. The old guard of american politics is gone. In a way the people said enough. I really hope Trump surprises everyone as a good president as much as he surprised the establishment by winning the election.

In before the lock!
I hope he starts acting like a president. The Clintons are done. But the president elect now has a lot of nerves to calm and soon. Financial markets are gonna tank and my overseas folks are very nervous about this huge shift.
Today is the day for Trump to act like a president and not a candidate.
Act like a president? I'm not sure he knows how to do that. He is who he is.
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk
My gut feeling says it was way better to have him win... It brings the monster to the clear. The monster is the resentment against diversity, imigration, the intellectual establishment and once it's given an opportunity to deal w/ the institutions, it will mellow out. Tensions within the american society will be resolved. If Hillary won, tensions would ehighten, resentment would rise.
Trump's win is the triumph of democracy: no matter how wrong we think others think.. they are citizens and must be represented otherwise we end in a decadent pseudo aristocratic society.

We've seen this before. President Andrew Jackson, etc. He was elected by a global economic shift away from the people who voted for him. Similar upheavals are happening in other countries. He's made a lot of promises, and he'll have to keep them. This country ain't a casino. But I think he probably knows that.
NYC is as quiet as a Sunday funeral though. Gray day. Supposed to rain.
Buy dollars. They are on sale today!
First the Brexit... now Trump. We are watching a revolution of sorts: people are saying they won't accept established wisdom, the well behaved academic truth. There is a lot of risk but things are moving and moving faster than our capacity to understand, criticize, antagonize.

Colker is right. The people have spoken. This is democracy, even if you don't agree with the outcome. For the record - I didn't vote for him. I hope he surprises us, not because I want to see him succeed, but because I want to see US succeed. He's not stupid. This whole campaign I've wondered how much of what he says he actually believes vs he said just to win votes.
In on the plus side, hopefully the Clintons will now GO AWAY. America is just as done with the Team Clinton as we are with Team Bush.

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?
Brazil is a prime example of people chosing conservatism. After 13 yrs of the Left in power and a horrible recession brought by their incompetence. At least the recession brought down their rulling.. i could not stand anymore the ideology in place of ethics, the smearing campaigns against anyone who questioned the leftist morality (they traded the law for leftist moralism and freedom of speech was in their way).
Congress brought them down and there is an anti corruption operation that's bringing down almost every politician and their ties w/ the state oil company. Recession is still on, ideology feuds still on but future is arriving fast and brutal.

The Canadian Immigration website crashed last night because of too much traffic. Deeply concerning for Canada. If Trump rips up NAFTA, Canada is in deep doo doo. Maybe Trump is better than the campaign rhetoric. His victory speech sounded quite presidential and conciliatory.

The campaign has been marked by everything in extremes. I hope like hell things start moderating more toward the middle. I haven't gotten a damn thing right so far, though. I think the best thing is for everybody to get involved with trying to get things back on the rails. There are actual good ideas from both sides of the political spectrum but with so many freaking echo chambers out there so much isn't being heard and given the rational discussion and argument it deserves.
