    Default iPad Pro

I'm thinking of getting one of these for work to take video.
I'm happy with my Mac products but if there are alternatives, I'd consider.

    Any advice is helpful.

Plus that new device will be Zwift-compatible if that is helpful at all.

if the primary purpose is taking video, i would think you would want something that could be held by a tripod or similar stabilizing mount. handheld video is usually not too good. just something to consider.

You want to record videos with an ipad Pro ? Or control the result ? Are their tripod and gimball available for them ?

EDIT: been CalebEwaned by Angryscientist to the line.

I want to take video and watch video as quickly as possibly. The camcorder setup doesn't really allow this. Thanks for the feedback.

As others have said, the iPad Pro would be unwieldy for taking videos. For your purposes, I would think a GoPro or one of those 360* cameras on a tripod or sturdy light stand would be better.

I use an iPad Air 2.....kind of the little brother to the Pro....and I use it to help with bike fittings. Apps like Technique (not an endorsement, just a suggestion) are useful because I can record folks pedaling and replay in all kinds of super slow speeds. I can also over lay lines and take angle measurements, etc.

An ipad could do the trick or you could use an ipad/iphone + GoPro setup. Nowadays the go pros have some wifi streaming function, you could put the GoPro on a tripod and it would allows you to move around and see the scene from other angles too.

Still this is not specific to the ipad. You can do the same with most quality android or windows10 tablets. If your "technological ecosystem" is already apple centric, go with the ipad. Else any high end tablet with a good lense/captor can do the trick.

I like mine but do not take videos with it or any other device. Great for watching videos that is for sure.

Unless you get a screaming deal, wait a few months before buying an iPad Pro. From the many Apple rumor sites appears there will be a new version with many enhancements announced fairly soon.

I am going to take a wild guess and assume you are trying to take video of tennis clients and give them immediate feedback. It is a great tool for that because any camera/video-camera/iPhone is going to have a very small screen for playback.

Get this iPad Pro Tripod mount with a tripod stand and you should be all set. If you have very steady hands (even better than a tennis pro, you could go without the mount and tripod)

You could also use it with a MonoPod for easier movability.

Yeah, I agree with the above. I think it could work really well, given a few choice accessories. Clients would get a charge out of it, and the iPad Pro screen - especially the bigger size - is kind of mind-blowing. Video quality is pretty high too - 4K? The larger size would be unwieldy unless mounted to a tripod. The smaller size would allow you more movement, especially with some sort of steady cam accessory, but then you would lose the larger screen.

Check out this article - seems to cover the variables pretty well. Portable Performance: Is the iPad Pro Viable as a Professional Video Tool? | Creative Planet Network

There are also new steady cam arrangements that work in tandem with the iPad that might be worth checking out, like the DJI Osmo, but then you are talking the cost of the iPad plus the Osmo and the learning curve/time required to learn how to get it all working smoothly enough clients won't find waiting for the image frustrating.

New iPad Pros are coming out in about 2.5-3 months. Definitely wait for them if you can.

If you can't, get the 9.7" Pro. You get a much better camera, much better dynamic color control, and much better display.

Darren...try a mini with a tripod and store the videos either in the cloud or on a bluetooth storage device.

Thanks for all the great iPad Pro tripod-mount suggestions. That is a big help for me, too.
Just have to do some comparing and contrasting of various product features. Bravo, VSalon!
