I got to this point in the story and I had to laugh, because I knew exactly what was going to happen, and it did. :)

(I don't have an RSV4, and haven't ever ridden one (my Aprilia's an '01 RST-1000) but I've spent enough time on the Aprilia forum to know about them.)

Craig, just forget you ever rode that RSV4, and get a Stelvio or a GS.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get a GW or a cruiser - there are plenty of other options for 2-up riding that won't crush your soul.

Aprilia-the most under rated bike on the market. Having lived with one for 14 years now and put 6 digit mileage (120K+) on it they are the most confidence inspiring chassis fitted with wonderfully flexible engines. As mentioned above you will become a better rider. Mine is a first generation Tuono (124 HP) that has no problem running with real liter bikes (200HP) on the mountain roads around here. Eventually I'll buy a V4 but for now the twin just does the trick.

So you have 11 more hp than my Futura...

I would very much consider getting a Shiver 900 to replace my little Ninja, but they're significantly heavier than say, an XSR 900, and the nearest dealer is across the state in Kansas City.

Yep 11 measly HP. Not to mention over 100 pounds lighter. My Tuono weighed in at 440lbs full wet. The Futura goes 550 full wet. That 11 HP goes a long ways.

The weight is what bothers me most about it, especially when compared to the Ninja 300. I can barely put it up onto the center-stand...

It's a luxury touring bike. Actually one of the lighter ones. That kind of comfort comes with the territory.

Guys, I’m gonna be in the Bay Area (Marin) for the next few days visiting Houston and riding my bike. I might have some time to shop on Monday - are there any motorcycle places that I should check out? Looking for lots of Ducati jackets to try on and clothing swag like that.

I don’t know what to make of this but it looks to be rode hard and put away wet on a regular basis with no complaints from either the rider or the MC.

Parked outside of my LCS (local coffee shop) post ride this morning. 1998 Heritage Softail with 6,800 miles on her. Original owner who offered to let me take it for a ride but I respectfully declined given the fact that Lycra and leather don’t go together too well. 1,200 pounds of heavy metal, leather adorned, man handling rolling thunder all in a nice robin’s egg blue. Awesome.

It's possible, that just like 4x4 pickups and jeeps, there is an infinite number of accessories available to attach to a Harley.
