Dude....... That's Silicon Valley, home of Trillion Dollar Apple and a handful of other companies of note. We have a domicile in OAK and based on yours and Joost's riding pics, I'm tempted. But it's beyond my means even if I could swing a BMW or Audi.
Definitely tempting but the idea of a 900 square foot condo that costs a million dollars is off-putting to me.

$1M does not really get you 900sqft. More 600. Ask me how I know.

seen a couple of years ago in civic center: some half naked barefoot guys are dancing and drumming in the street. the google shuttle bus comes along. one of the guys stops dancing, take his badge out of his pocket, and boards the bus.

I check in with Zillow pretty often. Seems to be a huge range of prices but I'm guessing the less outrageously expensive ones have other issues like shitty neighborhoods and are just apartments that have been turned into overpriced condos. Plus I'm sure the whole Bay Area has a wide range. I get SJC and SFO layovers periodically and love it when I'm there.

Never there long enough for a ride. Besides, it would be tough to bring a bike to work though I recently chatted with another pilot who brings a Brompton on trips.
I almost never mix work and riding. It's just not possible from a logistical perspective. I have a work life and then there is everything else. They rarely overlap. The former brings in a paycheck to allow for the latter.

I would happy to store a bike for you. Although I am on the other side of the bay. Seriously.

You’re assuming that airline pilots like alcohol.

Re: maintenance high on this car?
Pooch,
I'll do the oil change for $20k.
But you've got to supply the oil.
GO!

Re: maintenance high on this car?
I took it to the shop in town...
$24.95... he said 4 qts would probably be enough for the car...
take it for a run on the hwy and see it the oil light comes on.

Re: maintenance high on this car?
I didn't even look at a McLaren cause with a roof rack on it only gets 3mpg and there is no other way to carry my bike.
that is a funny video though.

That is pretty much the case everywhere. I once had a chat with one of the local Ferrari dealer. He basically told me the people showing at the dealership he was more concerned with were those wearing custom suits. They were often those that couldn't afford the cars and were trying to get a free ride.

Well I don't spend more than that with my regular car ;-) These figures do not mean anything without complete data (yearly mileage).

Consider yourself lucky.
I had a new 2001 A4 turbo. Top end blew due to blown timing belt. There was a class action suit against Audi/VW on that engine. I just missed the date, but was told wait a few years the next suit will begin...had other issues too--including dealers who were awful.
Rebuilt the engine, but the computers were also fried---would cut out, stalling the engine anytime, any speed. Last time it happened I was in a major traffic tunnel, rush hour in Boston.
I was searching the glove compartment for a match or lighter, I WOULD have torched that sucker then and there. Damn, I forgot I don't smoke...
I'll never buy another Audi.

really?
so, you need to know how many miles you drive to decide how much gas you use?
should have thought of that.
