    Default Mushrooms





    Anybody out there ever grow their own? Not my log farm btw...just something that I recently came across on a college campus. I know what you're think too so don't go there...

    Yep. Exactly 23 years ago, I ordered a kit from Paul Stametes (Fungi Perfecti) and did that exactly. I had some oak from a storm damaged tree that I stacked in the way back part of my yard, drilled holes...put his shitake plugs in and sealed everything with wax than waited.

    WOW, more bloody mushsrooms that I could shake a stick at.

    It is really easy to do. As long as you have a very shady location and cool spring days it's duck soup. IIRC I used a sprinkler to encourage the first flush than it was off to the races.

    LOL if you look deep Paul used to sell some (cough) interesting mushrooms. Not for me, my brain is already too busy for that cr@p.
