Default RFP for date/location of 2019 Vsalon Nomads ride

Adding a Poll to collect available dates for a VSalon Nomads ride.

    Basic Outline:

Locale will be near Michaux State Forest.
Two days of riding. Offroad day one, Road Day two
RV or Tent friendly. No drop in riders allowed. You must camp.
No support, not a race, group ride. Ride #1 will be a beast, bring legs. Ride #2 is almost all road.
Could get eaten by bears or adopted by hillbillies with bears being the preferred option.

Michaux, my old stomping grounds. I helped lay out the first Iron Cross course...

Does offroad mean MTBs on trails or "gravel" bikes on state forest roads? Or some of both?
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk

I blame you. I did three Iron Cross races. Did well one year, DNF'd the second and slogged thru a third with a pal...who had a concussion yikes. You are part of the reason I fell back in love with this area. OH BTW thanks for that hill scramble pal ;)

Back on topic...let's call it road biking on dirt and gravel and leave it at that. I've been riding a road bike with Compass Bon Jon tires and feel pretty d@mn good about the situation.

Sounds really sweet. Ordering appropriate bicycle to attend 2019 or 2020 event.
Will see if a framebuilder can maybe accommodate *this* upcoming springtime.
I will watch this thread carefully for information as it becomes available. :-)

Something like the "Huntsman" Kris @fortyfour makes would be the benchmark for day one.

Super excited about this. Michaux is my local playground. The riding, road, gravel, or mountain biking is as good as it gets. Beyond the cycling there is a lot to see and do in the area. The Appalachian trail goes through the state forest, along with many other hiking trails. Kayaking on Long Pine reservoir. Gettysburg is close by for the Civil War buff. Looking forward to sharing this hidden gem with some like minded folks.

As far as the hillbillies, this ain't the south, but don't be surprised to see a rebel flag or two.

I might have to give Kris at 44 bikes a call to see what his wait list is like. A Ti huntsman would be a sweet ride for the forest service roads.

Hmmm..... I have no doubt I could make it work in a tent if there's a tent camping ground there. It'd be great to 'get the band back together', as it were, and ride with TT and his usual band of criminals.

There will be tent camping, showers, ticks and what not.

Cancel any other plans. What could be more important than riding bikes and camping with friends.

Count me in. The rest of you figure out the date.

nice - l was about a half a mile away.

Moritz and the upper parrt of Jack are some of the nicest roads around. if you haven't tried it, go up Cold Springs --> Teaberry --> Newman, cross Rt. 30 and make your way to Piney Mtn. Ridge Rd. can ride dirt all the way back to Pine Grove.
