Quiet thread lately... if only we had something... oh, all right: Steve gets a new bike for our 20th anniversary - we're calling this paint scheme "Anno20":

The disc nonsense is selling so I want to see what the fuss is about. Plus, carbon rims.

Mr. Hampco needs his chops busted on occasion. What steel did you pick for your homeboy pipes Mr. Steevo?

Well then, Mr. Greg: all Columbus, mostly:

    38mm MAX down tube

    28.6/31.8 tapered/ovalized HSS top tube

    Spirit chainstays

    17mm Life seat stays

    HSS seat tube

    Tapered Nova head tube

Lovingly welded here in Seattle by Todd at R & E, paint by Eric at Colorworks

Looking forward to assembly, photos, and riding - will provide full details as we move along

And that bike is anything from "Boaring". I like... and his pipe list from above seems to be a pretty good selection.

TL;DR version: It rides great, I take back much of my disc brake-relate skepticism. The Ultegra bits work flawlessly and the brakes are a real hoot in that you can actually stop on a dime. We went with a 32-tooth cog on the rear, short cage rear der, and Kogal OS pulleys so we wouldn't toast the whole mess if I shifted to big/big. The Industry Nine carbon wheels with Compass 32s feel so plush and spin up so quickly... the steel frame and HampCo geometry are exactly as advertised.

And I hope you like our new direction: Version Two

If you need me to break it in and hold it for a while while your knee gets better, you know where I live Steevo. Looks pretty close to my size too.

If you can live with a 55cm top tube we could chat... but the knee is getting better!
