    Default DeAnima Cicli

    Hi all,

The genesis of DeAnima is 3 people - with many years of experience building frames - who got together a few years back to make handmade carbon and steel frames in Italy.

These 3 people are - excluding myself - Gianni Pegoretti who started building frames with his brother Dario many years ago, Antonio who learnt from Gianni, and Matt who has many years of marketing bicycle frames and products.

When DeAnima started it was clear that whatever we made it had to be produced by us, the fruits of our ideas and a reflection of what we believe in. Its also been about keeping traditional Italian skills alive which have in the last 2 decades been largely forgotten. We have a shared idea that it is still possible to do cutting edge design work here in Italy, it does not all have to be mass produced in China. We are using our exclusive tube designs, while continuing the tradition of making made to measure frames in the country.

This video sums us up -

We produce carbon (our preferred material) and steel frames. The carbon tubes are made to our specifications and designs by a composite company near to Venice. For steel tubing, we work closely with Dedaccai who are based in Crema.

As with all custom frames, paint is an important part of our identity and we do this in-house. The paint is influenced from Gianni's love of abstract art which gives the frames a unique personality.

We're really happy to be given this platform to spread the word of DeAnima and feel free to ask us any questions.

    Hi Gianni and Welcome.

Have you have any contact with Frank Boifava in the past? I have become friends with him here in Australia through Fondriest. He knew Dario when he worked in Italy. Love your work and nice to see Italian made product still being produced.

    Good to see you DeAnima.
The history of Italian frames is rich indeed.
I started riding in the 1970s (in Pittsburgh of all places).
The mistique of the Italian frames then was strong.
My first real bike was built form me by Gino Liotto, a beautiful and still great bike.
A DeRosa not long after, also still an awesome bike.
Technology has changed, but the history of great builders and the commitment to great bikes endures.

Thanks Bill. Here is Gianni's response -

"I met Davide when I worked with Dario. We brought Carrera to work with SanPatrignano and then when I closed with Dario and started working for Sanpatrignano I did, together with Davide and Luciano Bracchi, the development and production of the first Carrera Phibra and Hercules in Sanpatrignano. I have not seen Davide for many years but I know he continues with Carrera."

Thanks a lot! I am responding on behalf of Gianni as his English isn't great but we're all delighted to be so well received. Cheers!

    Barney,

Do you produce your own carbon forks for your bikes or are you using oem ones ? I have had several custom frames over the year built with 3T, Enve forks. I sometime found out the overall feeling/stiffness of the fork didn't match with the character of the frame. This is something that do not happen when you buy a custom steel frame and fork.

    Thanks already

Hey Thomas, sorry for the slow response. We use OEM forks, we don't produce our own as it's simply not feasible given how small our operation is.

If you're considering sourcing an alternative fork for any of your custom frames, I'd suggest looking WR Compositi. They produce small batches and they should be able to tailor a fork to your specific requirements. Reach out to Cicli Corsa (Cicli Corsa | The Italian Online Cycling Shop | Bike Components and Parts), who could assist you with this.

    Cheers.
