This gave me a deeper appreciation how we respond to deep trauma. Author Eric Lomax never uses the phrase "PTSD" rather insightful description how he physically and mentally reacts to life after years of torture and imprisonment. Also, because of benevolent societies dedicated to the recovery of POWs he regains perspective to go on with a mostly happy life after settling the past.
There is a good story to read more than the trauma and horror that is war.
