An oldie but a goodie! I'm so glad you like it!
It is a converted digital camera. Kolari Vision did the conversion and they do fine work. This is 850NM which is the strongest effect. I have more recently been using a 720NM conversion which produces a lower contrast file, but they both have their place in the tool kit... PM me if you have other questions.

That photo would make a cool print. I'm not sure I'd be willing to convert my digital camera, but would be interested in doing something like this on film. Half the battle is finding the right location.

Thanks for taking the time to comment! I think the rule of thirds has been done to death. To me they look as static as if the subject is centered in the frame. In this image to put the tree on the third would have lost the echo between the clump of bushes and the tree behind it in the distance. If I'd have zoomed out it would have too much sky. I'm happy with the result...
