Saw Ryan Adams in Toronto the other night. Besides the Spotify Presale totally publishing the wrong date, our seats ended up being okay. Played a good set, but man, it wasn't as good as I have seen in the past.

On a positive note, looks like Deafheaven will be playing in Hamilton, ON on the 20th, the same day I fly home from Florida. I think I'll be able to make it, so that's a plus.

The Damned next week. Just booked Paul Weller and Dinosaur Jr in October, and Sigur Ros in December in Reykjavik. Good to have goals...

Did Ryan play with a band? I haven't been terribly impressed with the solo performances I've seen and heard (not live) and really liked the Cardinals and Neil Casal when they were playing with him.

Oh man. I saw Sigur Ros right after Takk came out. That was without question the most sensory-stimulating concert I've ever attended.

I just noticed Los Lobos is coming back to town. A family member really ruined their last concert here for me, but it was still fun.

He did play with a whole band. The music good, but he never really addressed the crowd and only at times seemed "into it." When they played Peaceful Valley they did "jam" for about 5+ minutes, as well as during another song that I forget.

When I saw him with the Cardinals it was much, much better. But I did enjoy the newer stuff this time around. Guess I should give Prisoner and second listen.

I really liked his older "Americana," and his Cold Roses material. I'm hoping he teams up at some point with Jason Isbell, David Rawlings and Gillian Welch. I just found these on Youtube from back in the Cardinals days:

been over a week already but the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival on both Saturday and Sunday of last week. Saw everything from Cuban to Zydeco, full set of Kings of Leon, a song or two by Snoop Dog, most of the Meters set, but missed Trombone Shorty and Galactic, oh and this guy named Stevie Wonder, Irma Thomas; would have like to see more traditional and funky brass bands, but friends were on the move jumping from stage to stage. Almost forgot about the Soul Rebels, really wanted to see more of them. Could have done without Big Freedia ("Queen of Bounce"), but it's quite a scene. And snacked on Cochon de lait po-boys, Crawfish Strudel, and a soft-shell crab. did not suck
