The next prototype would come through in a few days with exactly those characteristics. WAY COOL! But building forks like that, one at a time with custom layups just does not work in the real world. We had to settle on a layup that made the most sense for the most people.
We continue to make steel forks for our steel frames and have no plans to stop. We also make them for some of our titanium frames as well since we can't get composite forks with the range of offsets, clearances and fittings that we need on occasion.
Is this what you were looking for?
Hi Tom,
Just reading through from the start of all this and couldn't help but say I have three Merlin's, 2 x Extralights (1996 & 1998) & a Cyrene (2004)...they all have the same geometry and now all have Reynolds (NOS) carbon forks on them. I have mainly used LOOK & Dedaccai forks in the past but since I replaced them all with the Reynolds they have taken on a whole new feel...
I don't own a Spectrum but just want to say thanks for your previous involvement with both Merlin & Reynolds...I love my bikes and they make my rides a joy for me!
