Yes, Swamp Harrier(s).

Had a nesting pair checking us out on the Mitchell River Silt Jetty on a recent kayaking trip. They made some closer passes but I was way to slow to pull out the camera. Hugely windy day so they could work into the wind and get a good look at us.

I remember some part of my biology studies suggesting that generalists are "fitter" than specialists in evolutionary terms. I am sure I am paraphrasing inaccurately -

but parrots must be generalists.

Shining Bronze Cuckoo - super loud calls but very shy to come out into the open like this...

We saw two cousins of this bird in Uganda - the Diederik cuckoo and the Klaas' cuckoo. The greens and bronzes on these birds is inexplicable.
