Can anyone advise on a good-looking safety toe boot? I'm drawn towards styles like the Wolverine Montgomery 1000 Mile Boot, the Red Wing Iron Ranger, and the White's Classic Work Boot. None of them are offered in a safety toe, though. Naturally, I'm also looking for a high quality boot that can be resoled. Thanks!

try either the redwing 4410 or 4439. both have steel toes, usa made, and resolable through redwing.

Nice. I just got a pair of Beckmans last night. Stiff as boards. Wearing them around the house right now to start breaking them in. Looking forward to when they're as comfortable as yours appear.

Hey! Slightly OT. I've been on the hunt for years to find a clog in my size 15. Nothing, nada. If any of you Cat1 shopping divas know of anything please note it here.
Troentorps come in sizes up to 47--is that too small? Maybe in an open backed model?

Those things are the best. I love mine, it's almost time to replace...

Thanks. Euro 47 is too small for me. Turns out Timberland is making a Chef's clog. I took a chance and they are pretty good.

I wasn't in the market for a boot but came across these in a bargain bin and in my size at a local dept. store. Trying them on was like finding a lost puppy in the rain. Much comfort.

Now to address the rest of my wardrobe or lack thereof. It's funny when working at a shop how hard it is to own clothes that aren't grey/black.

Frye James collection? If so, are they a made in the USA model, or elsewhere?

What's wrong w/ black/grey? "I'll stop wearing black clothes when they make something darker...."

These are Mexican made along with most I have seen here in Canada. A missed stitch on one but the overall quality and fit is impeccable.

    Nothings the wrong with black.

Just got back from a tromp around in the hills with the dog. I put on my old Whites Smokejumpers. I forgot how freekin heavy those dogs are. Need to get in shape. When I was a kid I used to sneak out my Pops Whites when he wasn't paying attention. Always wanted a pair, but forgot about them. When we moved to Hawaii my leather/plastic/cloth hiking boots/shoes just melted down after a year or so. Finally said what the hell and went to Spokane and talked to Whites. They measured and felt my feet and came to the conclusion that I am a 12 D off the rack "custom" size. Put them on and they fit like a glove. (sorry OJ) Took a few hikes to break them in, but then they fit like they owned me. They are like 15 years old now and still look damn good. Don't wear them often enough, but the dog sure loves me when I do. I never saw such fancy boots as some of you guys have (ceptin for cowboy boots in Texas). Nice thread. I read the shirts thread and am glad I never have to wear a shirt and tie, never knew a world like that was out there.

Just got my Wolverine 1000's & all I can say is wow.

More of a dressy/all-around (goes well with selvedge denim)
Fit is somewhat narrow compared to my Redwing Iron Ranger yet overtime, I'm sure it'll set in but it feels really nice; love the shoes so far !!

I'm going to abuse these boots and will post pics throughout the process.

I hope White's Semi Dress boots are heavy/solid like the Smokejumpers. I will have a pair someday. I'd like to be in line for Dad's Smokejumpers but they are way too small for me.

Our boot selection here in the antipodes is quite different to the US selection. I'll be in the States in August - where do I try and buy a pair of Red Wing Iron Workers or those Wolverines? Are they safety / industrial shop stuff? Or high street retailer?

    This is an NZ boot:

I always got into trouble when i lived in NZ as i insisted on calling Boots Wellies/Wellington boots instead of the Kiwi Gumboot (also flip flops NOT jandals!)

Nordstrom has a pretty good boot sale right now. Some cap toe 1000 Miles for $225ish for example.
