The F31 with N20 engine are getting old enough to have come way down in price on the used market. Admittedly an 8 speed auto but a great transmission I've found. The N20 was way de-tuned to lure folks in the sedan to pay up for the six cylinder. With a Dinan stage 1 ECU the N20 goes to 312hp/330lbft. Audi's buyback on my diesel had me almost flat into the car before shipping and the Dinan ($1500). There are cheaper routes to the same horses as well if you don't want to go Dinan.

There was a VW microbus in the store last month when I visited. A couple sat in it the whole time I was in the area.

Over the past couple of summers in Wellfleet I've noticed this beast around town.

This looks interesting. Possibly as much as 340 HP.

Just got an email from the local VW dealer saying they now have the new VW Golf AllTrack wagon in stock. Any color you want as long as it is black or white. Supposed to rain all weekend - pouring right now - so a test drive might be a good diversion.

I hate car shopping. I envy people who can just go out and buy one. Car shopping for me has always been fraught with doubt and second guessing. Volkswagen's corporate behavior hasn't been helping. And we also bank with Wells Fargo. We seem to be accumulating a "portfolio of evildoers".

Did they say anything about the manual Alltrack? I am thinking we're going to flip our TDi into one of those next year.

In the meantime, I am putting off car shopping for myself (commuter) out of general dread for the process. Buying a new car (to me) is easy. But looking for something decent around $5-7K is much more fraught and time consuming ATMO.

Manual all tracks will be available first quarter 2017, in the S and SE trims only. The SEL trim forces you into the DSG transmission.
