The skydweller face seems un-traditional for a Rolex (he said, not being a Rolex aficionado at all). I kind of like it.

My new Oceanus came in Friday. Weds morning DHL picked it up in Yokohama, Japan. It went to Tokyo, Cincinnati, Atlanta, then down here to Macon and was at my desk at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Pretty impressive.
The watch is mostly awesome with one complaint, which is that the spring bars are really close to the case, and there's a sharp edge on the case right behind the spring bars. I'm going to knock that edge down, because if I don't it's going to cut straps to bits. When I got it Friday I tried putting a Barton silicone strap on it and it actually cut a divot out of the back of the strap. So, that's got to go. But, after sizing the bracelet, I don't know how much I'll really take it off the bracelet, 'cause it looks and feels great. I have a quick adjust clasp ordered, same one I put on my other Oceanus, but on this one I'm 95% sure it's a direct swap without having to modify anything.
The dial is a dark dark blue...almost more of a blue tinted black actually, it mostly just looks black. The applied indices appear to hover over the dial and really give it a lot of depth. The finishing is great, where the case transitions from polished to brushed the transition is razor sharp. The sides of the indices are polished, the tops have striations that are so fine I can't really get a pic of them. I'm glad I sold the S100 and picked up this one instead. It's a whole different look, the crystal is less reflective and the dial is easier to read.
iPhone camera in my office really doesn't do the case justice.
This is about as blue as it ever looks.
On the Barton canvas band.
It is a sunburst dial.

Dustin, that blue is marvelous. I love blue watches. Ultimately have stuck with black, but not forever. Speaking of, and while not a dive watch, I think this one is mesmerizing.

By the way, does anyone here have an auto moonphase? I think that's the coolest complication. I understand why someone wouldn't want an auto moonphase if they're not going to wear it every day and the moon is always getting out of phase, but there's something so cool about them. This one remains in sync for 128 years if always wound. I'd probably get a white dial on a dress watch, though, because I usually wear a blue suit when the time comes (Like, the two weddings/ year I attend) and my daily uniform is a blue Oxford.

Yesterday at lunch I fixed the sharp edges, and put it on the navy Barton silicone strap, and damn, this is a good combo.
Got my tools to finish the crystal swap on the Citizen, so that's today's lunchtime project.
BEFORE.
AFTER.
The scallop cut in the strap from the edge before I ground it down.

I don't have a moonphase watch but I agree - they're fantastic. To me, it's always been the coolest complication. I'd love a Jaeger-LeCoultre, like the Master Ultra Thin Moon (1368420). I'd probably go black dial (1368470), but the white dial is beautiful.

I've had my eye on the Omega Cosmic TDM, or one of the other nice ones using what I assume it the Valjoux 730, for ages. Moonphse is somehow the dumbest and best complication.

Check out the new JLC Moonphase Calendar...as not to block the view of the moonphase, the calendar jumps from 15 to 16. Its the silly details like these that really make this hobby cool.
