You are correct, it is IWC Ref. 3714.
I own it in stainless steel, silver dial, rose gold numbers, coupled with blued markers for the subdials.
The watch is spectacular, yet tends towards the more formal side of the wristwatch spectrum. It is truly a joy to wear.

A great watch, a weird movie, and almost certainly the best Bond theme song of all time. Also one of only a handful of songs that have both an awesome original version, and an awesome cover version.

I think this is about as close as I'll get to wearing what Bond wore; a cruddy picture of my Sinn on a Bond nato (the post Blue-Ray Bond, not the skunk stripe model).

Wow, how did I miss this one? Congrats! What a classic, and with such a cool history. When I was a kid I knew an RAF Battle of Britain veteran who wore an old Rolex airman's watch. I've got my eye on a no-date Rolex myself . . . someday. The date function just seems a little unnecessary in the smart phone days. And I think the dial looks cleaner. Thanks for sharing.

I've had this pocket watch for as long as I can remember.



While home over christmas, I started looking at it, and finally figured it out. I unscrewed the case back and saw this:



The serial number dates it to 1895. It's been passed along down to me for a few generations. I was rather excited. I wound it up and it seems to be keeping time well, so I'm thinking about getting a chain/ strap for it. Anyone have any recommendations? Would prefer leather.

I agree with you on the large watches. The classic Patek Philippe is around 36mm or less. I really think the larger chronographs pushed the size out to 40mm+ and now you have freakish thick watches at 50mm.
When I look at watches, I have the soft spot for the classic Patek but I really think the watches by FP Journe are pretty slick.

yup, can't go wrong with a classic patek.
and btw, look at what rolex did to the submariner - bigger, bulkier, and IMO, less attractive now.
