I read about that 959 somewhere. Talk about impractical. Still, there are many many reasons to love all the oddities Porsche has produced.

The details of what it cost to service are fascinating.
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk

I did see a 959 once. Talk about wicked. The 959 actually won dakar.
I have seen 2; one a long time ago when I was stationed in Germany. The other lives here in Tucson ironically; I first saw it while riding and nearly crashed staring at it. I assumed it had to be a fake but have since learned it is indeed real. The owner brings it to the local cars/coffee sometimes. The story of any of them being here before they were 25 years old is pretty amazing and involves Bill Gates and a few others with deep pockets getting an exclusion through congress.
That is just stunning; you should be proud of that one!
Anybody drove the 991.2 ?

I drove the 991.1 4S PDK which I thought was fantastic. The 991.2 has now twin turbos and a smaller 3.0 flat six but is not as racy as the "proper" 991.2 turbo S which is certainly crazy.
I owned a 996 GT3 for 4 years. I had it corner balanced and put in a club sport package. I ran pagid pads and high temperature motul brake fluid. I also had a set of forged champion wheels with R compound dunlops on them. The car was way too much for the stock rubber. With the dunlops--which lasted about 1000 miles (the rears, the fronts lasted 2000)--it was a wicked beast. It truly was a great experience at the track but was stupid on the road. I let it go and periodically wish I had kept it, which is also how I feel about the ducatis I owned.
i'm going to buy the best sub $20,000 shit box cayman i can find for the girl. she needs a car and decided she wants that.
(it is entirely based on size and appearance.)
if i'm that guy in san diego living in a one bedroom apartment with a dodge scat pack and a porsche cayman please let me know....ok?

Crazy is buying one so you can drive it in 4 hours of stop and go traffic from NYC to the Hamptons at the end of Long Island. But I see them doing it every time I go out there.
Spent a few hours reading through this website this morning. I think I searched for sh$tbox Porsche Cayman and it was the first option, which is weird because everything on the site is nice. Look for the Lamborghini tractor: https://www.classicdriver.com/en
