Quoddy! Very nice. We need to start a separate "Handmade in New England" thread.
I've been wanting these (and just got them):
I just dropped off a pile of my money there today. Got a pair of brown chromexcel Indys in exchange. It is a very dangerous store, but frankly, I don't think I could drop this kind of $$ without trying them on and see what they look like first. It's also good to talk to them about how different shoes fit, etc.
They also have a ton of special store only shoes, and will be getting some more of the fall, likely in October. One of them will be a captoe boot in Kudu, with the Commando sole. Gods help me when that comes in.
I would recommend you get the Austin leather Indys instead, if you haven't worn the Chromexcel ones yet. My Chromexcel Indys have scratched in a way I find totally unacceptable. Not patina, just "look like shit." They're the only Aldens I'm not happy with. (I have 5-6 pairs).
I understand what you are saying about Horween Chromexcel leather Indy's. Mine scratch kinda funny also. I haven't polished them to see if that improves the patina yet. I also have a Chromexcel Belt from Tanner and a chromexcel chukkas from quoddy that do the same thing.
It seems like nice enough leather, but i don't get the big deal on Chromexel..........
Ugh. No way they can go back now. Seems weird that the leather would be so scratchy, yet everyone is using it on their high end shoes these days. Maybe chromexcel is easier to source, or you can get it more consistently, at least?
Congrats, Cody! Don't even think about returning them. Indiana Jones didn't sweat the scratches! He just rubbed them out with snake venom and the handle of his bull whip. Seriously, I've had oiled leather boots and Montana-Pitch Blend is your buddy. Or check with Horween for their recommendation.
LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE LOUD!!!
Any one of these espresso tampers will do. Anything Chris King does is perfect.

I can't really get behind the Cole Hann's since I had similar (identical) soles on some Nike Lunarwhatevers, and they wore out super fast (as you'd expect a tennis shoe to do).
