yeah, I'll post them up - I've retired from my brief career as an incredibly small scale bag maker. But seriously, my bag situation is getting bad - I think I've got 8 or 9 bags I use regularly (for different purposes of course). None of them are as fancy as the stuff posted up in this thread.

I agre on the MLC. Mine is over 10 years old and still rocking. Stores small too which is important for an apartment dweller like me.

Another ditto on the Patagonia MLC. Mine just returned from a 5-day trip to Austin, absolutely stellar. My favorite feature is the small zippered pocket near the handles - perfect size for dumping your wallet, watch, keys, and pocket change as you stand in the TSA screening line. And the backpack straps tuck away if you are concerned what the butler might think.

Counterpoint: it's commonly known that weekend bags are the conspicuous thing to have in 2011.
A weekend bag is absolutely the real deal, but use them like a pro please. With great power comes great responsibility.

A few years ago I go a Floto bag- a great long term investment.
A few of the pluses:
Girls like it- they did not like my IF crumpler bag.
Perfect size for overnight work trips.
Works as carry on and has held up well with a little patina when the baggage handlers get a hold of it every once in awhile.
Did I say girls like it?

Just want to emphasize this. Eagle Creek Folders are brilliant. They work perfectly, seem to make shirts pack smaller, and are cheap. I can't recommend them highly enough if you have to look presentable when you get there but a garment bag isn't practical.

This is pretty close to my MLC . . . I have the same color, just an earlier version. No trackpants in my wardrobe. This is no "lil black backpack" and it certainly doesn't have wheels. Wheels are for the weak.



And yes, I use the Eagle Creek Pack-Its, too. Love 'em.
