With a lot of guidance from a local builder I just finished my first lugged frame. Sure he helped a lot, hell even did a joint or two. I insisted, i wanted to see the process first. In the end i consider it my first frame. Damm proud of it to. I did all the lug prep, cuts, miters, cleanup, filing, etc. Sure its not perfect but the next will be better. Its a trade it takes time to build up a skill. I know the next will be better. Can't wait to throw a leg over frame #1. Next frame is for the wife then maybe a cx bike for my brother.

When my first frame was sitting there in my living room waiting to be built up it begged me to critiqued it. I constantly found flaws. I was constantly measuring, re-measuring things, checking alignment, checking clearances, making notes on what I would do differently next time.

Now that I'm out riding it, I'm not sure I care much about any of it.

It's your first frame when you take it for a ride and someone asks you about it.
