The B bike
I finished the Pimprad last night and I actually used white bar tape for the first time...now I'll need a white saddle, belt and shoes to go with it. I found the frame (59cm Lemond Poprad) locally on CL...the original owner had it rigged for cantis and discs, but never built the frame. It is pristine for now. All you need to do is sub a disc fork and locate the discs...maybe down the road.
Anyway, the build is DA triple 9 speed which was from Dave T. on the Forum and all of the other parts (Roval Pave wheels, Deda Newton bar and stem, Shimano cantis, Thomson post, Fly saddle) came from the Forum as well. I'm certainly not a cross racer, but I was looking for a bad road/weather/rails to trails bike that I could ride hard, as well as ride with our kids too. The maiden voyage is tomorrow morning on a local abandoned railroad trail. Maybe next year I can join you folks on the Finger Lakes Ramble. Any suggestions regarding fenders?
cool lemond!
i'll bet you could get 43mm honjo fenders to work - it might take some kickin' and cussin' but they should fit.
Here's my cross bike for the season. The frame is complete, I just need to hope JB gets it painted in time.
After a way too long delay I finally got the cross bike up and running. Out-of-town stuff, work, sickness and my kid starting pre-school (transitions are a nightmare with 3-year olds) took their toll but I got it out for a first romp last Sunday. What was intended as a quick loop through Golden Gate Park to get the shifting dialed quickly turned into a 3-hour threshold slug-fest in the Headlands. After about 30 seconds on the bike it was apparant that I wasn't going home any time soon. I don't think I've had that much fun on a bike since I did my first wheelie when I was about 7.
Holy Crap Sasha can build a frame....and yes, the electrical tape is temporary... :)

yummmmmmm! looks like a speedvagen with a scoop of extra sexy. nice effin build.
BryanF, in the game of life, you win.
That's it - It's over. You have the best and coolest looking toys.
I give up.
Flipping amazing!
And you stole my tires and got them on the dirt before I did.
Heh...thanks guys. The build is a bit more gonzo than I'd initially intended, but once I had the frame in-hand it kinda screamed for it. Plus some of the more bling parts were had for a song off Craigslist. When you're not in a hurry you can wait for the deals to pop up here and there!
Robbie, pal, identical tires are the least of our matchsie problems...
The bag comes off for cross obviously, and different wheels and tires go on.
Just about a month to go for Charm City.
That Vanilla is sick. Nice work.
That vanilla is very ill/sick/cancerous/plague like. I mean there are some damn nice bikes around here, but that stands out. Colour me jealous.
I write for daily serving
