Thanks for the Aretha video. That was her prime. Still untouchable.

But this one is better.
There's a sometimes-morning country show on public radio here in NJ. I guess it's on Thursdays? Dunno, only catch it occasionally.
Caught the tail end of a Lyle song this morning, followed by Liz Phair's "Polyester Bride." Am not familiar, but kind of dug it. Must investigate further.

Sinatra cancelled. Studio and orchestra were booked anyway...

Breeders->Tanya Donnelly->Throwing Muses->Kristin Hersh-> 50 FOOT WAVE
Breeders deserve some kind of award for Outstanding Use of the Tritone in Popular Music, btw.
krisitin hersh.
Beth Hart. When I get home I'll link one of the Echoplex youtube vids. Net nanny at work no likey and I'll be damned if I can figure out what Android wants. Check out 'Somethings Got a Hold on Me.'
As promised

Um. Eddie. Yeah.
Exile in Guyville. Best Record of the 90s. Really.
Whitechocolatespaceegg. I love this one, too. Lots of people felt it was too mainstream, but they were probably looking at the photos rather than listening to the music. "Polyester Bride" is on this one, btw.
And what you guys said about Throwing Muses. This was like rock and roll from another universe, circa 1986:
PJ Harvey nearly goes without saying. She is a massive talent.
Others I love? Juliana Hatfield circa 1989-93. Heavenly/Marine Research. Sarge/The Reputation. There's nothing like crunching power pop sung by a sweet snarling voice.
Some more rootsy girls? Lucinda Williams, of course. Northeast Kingdom from Cheri Knight. The sublime Antidote from Jenny Toomey.
And Sleater-Kinney. The best band in the fucking world for a while there.
I don't even understand someone saying "I love/don't love chick singers." Do you love music or not?
GO!
I always had a thing for the big one in Wilson Phillips...I assume she was Wilson.
...just seems like a Wilson.
we are about to break the surly bonds of gravity and punch the face of God!
The internet is literally freaking out over whether this is a legit indie chick or a failed mainstream chick who got backing to start over as "indie."
Who cares?
Thoughts?
