I've wanted one of these for years:
I've wanted (...I think, probably...) one of these for days:
GO!
Thanks for the tip Toots. SierraTradingPost had them for $140 with all the coupons. No toe cap, but for that kind of money I'll give them a try. Shit they can be fashion shoes at that price. Also picked up some Sorels, now is the time for cheap Sorels , $60! I have a feeling it will get cold up here in the winter, it was 42 degrees when I woke up this am.
Joe
Good call Joe. It took about a month of daily 1 mile dog walks to break mine in proper. The orgional wilderness boots I wore were good for many many years, you won't kill em'.

In the change from the city to the mountains I have been spending way too much cleaning up the yard, trees and tall grasses on this mountain side.
For now I have been using an 18v ryobi weed whacker, its ok. I also have been using an 18v ryobi sawzall with a pruning blade for some tree chopping. Mostly clearing deadfall.
Now entertain me on this one.... I am anti gas for the yard tools because this place is a tinder box and I have to store the gas out in the shed, hippie reasons, what not.
Enter the Stihl 36v Li Ion saw and wee whacker. Wow.

STIHL MSA 160 C-BQ Lithium-Ion Chain Saw - Lightweight Chainsaws | STIHL USA
The saw is $300, the battery is $250, the charger is $50, $600 for a rechargeable saw is high. Only glowing reviews though. Then I could pick up the weed whacker, handle my hill side.
None of this is remotely rational.
-Joe
That's a lot of coin for a saw, if gas is remotely an option, grab the 260 model. Will last forever.
Joe,
There's a saw thread around that you might want to check out. I haven't heard anything good about the new battery saws. I'd suggest that the guys giving them glowing reviews on the internet are trying pretty hard to like them. Ones with cords are fine for light duty use, though.
Thanks for the info guys. As much as I want to go battery operated, I know $600 for a saw is too much...
-Joe
What you really want is this, Joe:
I have for sale a custom trail cutter/ daily commuter. It is based on a folding bike frame so you can take it inside or get through a tough hole in a trail. The custom front chainsaw trail cutting tool is great for off road. it also has a dual use for commuting because it powers the front wheel making hills a breeze. It also comes with a sturdy rear rack to haul heavy loads on.
The bearings have recently been serviced and the tires are good. it has a new chain on the bike but the saw chain should be replaced soon.
I wish I could keep it but the wife says she is tired of the neighborhood kids wanting to ride it. No lowball offers i know what this thing is worth.
I highly regard your interests and in all thing that have to do with needle and thread but man you have got to be kidding me?
Get a farking real chainsaw. Look this guy up on fleabay: thechainsawguy and buy a modified Dolmar. He will modify the carb, tune it, drain the gas, powder it on the @rse and send it in perfect running order.
Uhhh, sorry about the cheerleading ;)

"No lowball offers I know what this thing is worth."
Q: What do you do?
A: I'm a personal injury attorney.
Q: What is this thing worth?
A: A very nice vacation home.
Got in my first long hike with the Merrell's this weekend. Super soft leather, these things took no time at all to break in.
Old and new. Montrail Moraine on the left, Merrell Wilderness on the right.
A bit concerned about the toe are from kicking rocks on the trails, but otherwise these boots are really nice.
-Joe
How is the sizing on those Merrells? I was tempted to order some online, but was reading reviews about wacky sizing. Some said they ran large, some said they ran small...who knows. Did you get your normal size or go up/down a half?
Hahah - as cyclists can we use the Sidi benchmark? Are they the same Euro size as Sidi's you've worn? (I'm assuming all cyclists have had Sidi's at some point)
They are the true to size length wise, initially I was concerned that the left foot was to tight, but 20 minutes of yard work later it fit like a glove.

I would consider combing my hair if I had one of these.

This. Aftermarket/Replacement LR Series IIA galvanized frame. The bodies last, (aluminum) but the steel frames do not.
