As a non-watch person what I notice is:

As beautiful and functional as that Shimano Anniversary group is on the bike, it's just as cool in the box. My suitcase wanders around the basement here. Remember those Colnago watches? My partner wears the yellow one.

Took a couple quick pictures of my watches.

Very early IWC 3251 classic dial with combination Luminova/tritium dial. Managing a team across three continents and traveling frequently, I find a GMT complication useful, and the IWC implementation of it is very legible at a glance - no thinking required. Been my daily wearer for 10+ years. Too much writing on the dial, but I like the number typeface, the dial markers, and the sword hands.



2001 Timefactors PRS-1. 37.5mm case and classic pilot dial. Runs a ETA 25 jewel automatic, calibre 2836-2 running at 28,800 bph with hacking seconds. Series of 300. I actually have two of these - 083/300 has been a frequent wearer for my wife and 037/300 (pictured) has spent the time mostly tucked away.



Strongly considering selling the PRS-1 (037/300) to get a Yobokies-modded Seiko as a daily and weekend wearer instead.

christian, that's a great IWC. As a dive watch fanatic myself, i have always lusted over the aquatimers with the internal bezel. such a cool watch IMO. Fortunately, now that I have my ND Sub. my watch lust is all but dead. Still would love to pick one of these up sometime though:

Here are a couple watches of mine that are considered classics. The first is the standard USAF pilot and navigator issue watch, the last issued to me. Its a battery powered Marathon watch with tritium filed vials for night visibility. Very few of us flew with costly watches, most used either plastic multifunction digital watches or issue watches. Pilots watches could be set to Universal Mean Time on the outer dial and local time on the inner. You wanted a watch you could see. Complex dials with tiny scales and calculations are not useful in the cockpit while flying. Prior to this, I had a Vietnam issued Hamilton mechanical hand wound hack watch.

This is my dressier watch, an Omega Constellation mechanical automatic winding watch. This is extremely accurate. I understand these are available on the secondary market and I believe they are good choices for somebody looking for a lifelong watch.
