The Who at Fenway in September. I'm a huge fan, haven't seen them live yet, figure this may be my last chance.

Where is Sarah Borges playing? She has been on constant rotation in my car lately. If you like her, Robyn Ludwick is similar — more Texas blues.

On edit: didn’t realize that Sarah was opening for the Bottle Rockets. That’s going to be a great show!

Thanks for the tip on Robyn Ludwick. A quick listen told me all I needed.

Just saw MONO this weekend. A nice show. Not my go-to jams, but I went with a friend and we had a nice time. I was glad I brought earplugs.

Did you make it? What an awesome show. Sarah Borges was great. She is a really good live performer and is really fun. Anyone who can pull off an NRBQ Big Al cover (it comes to me naturally) and do it well gets big points from me, and the Bottle Rockets are always great live. They played almost all of Bit Logic and dug deep for the “classics.” They’re incredibly tight, and Hefferman has a great stage presence. The place was not close to full, and it was cool to be able to speak with Sarah and members of the Bottle Rockets at the bar and merch table. Sarah played to maybe 40 people, and it filled a bit more for the Bottle Rockets.

Sarah Borges is back at the Hangar on 11/8. It’s a must see show for me.

Next up, Solid Sound. Wilco, Tweedy and Co. I’m looking forward to seeing the headliners, Nels Kline, and Courtney Barnett. I have big expectations. The opening Wilco set the last Solid Sound was the best thing I’ve ever seen ( Being There and then Yankee Hotel Foxtrot played beginning to end).

I was there last night as well. The a cappella number they did, Oh Jerusalem I think, was outstanding. And the after show was also outstanding.

Ben Folds leaves me cold. You had good seats. We were off to your right.

Indeed it was. Very good sound on this video. That Aretha Franklin cover for her birthday showed just how fine a singer she was, not that it was in doubt at all, because Sara is no slouch vocally. Also loved the Charles Ives piece after.

Went to see Dance/jazz/"cave music" (their term) trio Moon Hooch in Harrisburg PA last week. Was amazing and I highly recommend. Basically two saxophones and a drummer. So good.

Up next, Elvis Costello (!) and Bruce Hornsby (!). Excited.

The whole show was good but I especially liked the part after the radio show ended and Thile let his hair down. We left our lawn seats to get closer to the stage for that. Delightful.

3 salonistas at the show. Obviously a sign of good taste! We should gather for a pre-show picnic next time...

The bass/sax/bandleader Joan Chamorro has mentored quite a few young artists through a jazz band (Sant Andreu Jazz Band - Wikipedia).

    Standouts are Rita Payes
