My latest, a Fifty Fathoms homage. ETA 2824, sapphire crystal and less than $450 shipped.

every day for a couple of years now.
want to find something new though- mechanical, less delicate so i wouldn't have to take it off several times a day when working on bikes.
    ideas?

That watch uses an Omega 1152 movement, which is a modified Valjoux 7750. It's a very tough movement and I wouldn't worry about hurting it by working on bikes.

But....if you want something less expensive and tough in the form of a mechanical watch then IMO it's hard to beat the Seiko divers (SKX series or Monsters).

    for real.
i have one (25 year-old submariner which my daddy bought me new as a graduation gift)).
if ya don't drop say 200 bucks ever' now n' agin', them fuckers'll go off.
i figger that rascal has cost me what my sweet daddy paid for it just to keep it running.
but i don't rock a wristwatch at all anymore.
i just pull my cheapass flip phone (no "smart phone") outta me pocket.
look at it and see i'm late.
(which, BTW, makes no difference since i'm the boss)

know the difference twixt a real gen-u-wine rolex and the one ya pick up in patty pong in bangkok?
the patty pong watch'll tell ya what time it is.
    hardeeharharhar!

Far be it from me to discourage someone from getting a new watch, but like choke said, that's a tough watch and should be just fine from working on bikes. I'd take it off for golf and wear it for everything else. But if you're just in the mood to add to the collection, what are you thinking in terms of style, price, etc.? There are plenty of rugged mechanicals to be had.

I'm a fan of simple/classic style watches. Here's my semi-recently purchased Breitling Transocean.

That Breitling really is a stunning watch. Great choice. So simple; so elegant; so right.

Nice watch! I tried that model on a while back and it took some time to get it out of my head.

Honus, where are you in Boulder?

Because my wallet and I need to make sure to stay far, far away.

I had a BR03. Very interesting watch and fun to look at. It is large and heavy - at least for my scrawny wrists too heavy.

Still a big Bell Ross fan. Here is what I have now:

I'm in downtown Boulder on the Pearl Street mall. We sell Breitling, Paul Gerber, TAG Heuer, Raymond Weil and Seiko. Also have some really nice William Henry knives.

Feel free to stop by anytime! :)

Long story short, I have a $200 gift card to Fossil. I don't love that many of their watches. Do they, in your opinion(s), have anything worth buying, or should I just buy random crap until my money is gone?

Yeah, I know I'm asking about a Fossil on VSalon, but whatever. Thanks in advance.

that watches are really pretty crappy. my coworker, who's not a watch guy had one for a few years, and the finish really went to hell. for the money, seiko or citizen are way better values. as for your gift card, i just looked on their site, they have some pretty decent looking leather bags, that's what i'd be into if i had to spend the card...

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. The sunglasses aren't awful either.
