The sun came up in the east.
come in to the office this morning after a brutal week...
"I cancelled your leave"
"WTF...why?"
"We need you to go to *insert tropical island* for work...just a couple of weeks"
Insubordinate. And Churlish.
We are under going a re-organization at work and I am ending up with a better group of employees than prior to the re-organization. This is refreshing as I am usually given the isle of misfit toys to deal with.......

A lot good going on today. First, I'm in the middle of a 5 day weekend and feel like a human being - amazing what 8 hours of sleep and a day or two out of gangland (Trenton) will do. Club race last night - rode fairly well - something to be said for that. Today hanging out with my wife and we'll have a nice dinner outside somewhere in Lambertville (preferably BYO) and I'll grab a really good bottle. Tomorrow we're having a party for my partner who's returning to work after a year sabbatical - great people and it will be a beautiful day by the pool and pond. More importantly, it marks the near-end of a professional hell year for both of us. On the bike front, I have a new (to me) Parlee inbound courtesy of the Vsalon classifieds and thollandpe. I've been schlepping around on a bike (primary road bike) I haven't really liked for the last five years and finally got around to getting something semi-proper. Finally, my new Spectrum cross for my rookie year in the 55+ should be coming in soon. All in all, things are good today.

Spent the morning in along the coast of Miami playing "nanny" to my youngest while my Wife showed a couple of properties and managed one. Ate a favorite dish. She's giving me a cut of her commission and bought me lunch.
Going kayaking this weekend w/ my oldest.

Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.
Going to see David Lindley at the Van Dyck tonight with Karen. Good food, good beer, good music, great company.
I'm going to braise some beef tonight, with chipoltles, tomato, onion, green chilies, red chilies, cumin, lime, garlic, bay leaves, and what ever else I can find. I might also toss in a potato. When it falls apart I'm making tacos with guacamole, and drinking beer and watching TV.
Taking the dogs to the park, drinking beer, charring meat, drinking bourbon and then drinking some more beer.
I have a healthy daughter, a kickass wife, an interesting (if stressful) job, the Yankees on the tv, and a cold beer in hand.
And the only thing likely to screw up my planned rides for the weekend would be my sister in law going into labor and my having to scramble to take care of their dog while they're in the hospital, which would be a welcome adjustment to my schedule.
Life is good.

It's probably not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but I got a real hair cut today and for the first time in a long time I caught a glimpse of myself mirrored in a downtown store front and said "holy shit, that's me!" in a good way. Simple pleasures.

I am still smiling from last night's concert with Ringo Starr and His All Star Band, which featured:
Toto's Steve Lukather, Mr. Mister's Richard Page, original Santana singer Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren and Toto's/Don Henleys drummer Gregg Bissonette.

So Ringo Starr needs a drummer in his band? I knew it....
Completed a decent block going from 11 hours to 15 hours a week on the bike, backed off a little this week and now I can pick it back up again and go on another block. Drivetrain is all shiny and silent and ready to go.
1) The extra load I took on this year paid off... literally. Wisdom teeth removal is paid off and 2 credit cards are paid off. Less than $800 to go on the last one.
2) I've ridden 3x in 2 weeks and have been relatively pain free after each ride. After lots of guess work we figured out that the knee pain was from the sartorius.
3) Stretching 3x a day for the past 10 weeks = palms to the ground.
4) Grading is done.

Wife and daughter at an out-of-town softball tourney. Boys and I are going to the lake, to camp, and fish, and boat. Reminds me of step brothers, make beef jerky, sh!t with the door open, take riverboat gambling trips...
Leaving at noon. Have a great weekend all.
