How was it diagnosed? Sounds exactly like my last year of PT, massage, and may work after taking a 2m or so fall onto an outstretched arm..

Wow...not sure how to even aproach this one. For starters, I'd recognize that this child, in elementary school, needs a whole lot of love. That has to come from community, and if you have a network of folks then it could be a good fit. Its important to recognize this isnt some roommate scenario (I know you recogize this) as this kid is going to need an adult to help him cope with the loss.
Shoot, its brutal for all parties. If anything, it might being introspective and considering how you might grow as a part of the process. I gurantee he has a lot to teach anyone willing to help him deal with an unfair set of life circumstances.

Thanks for listening to me vent. :) This kiddo has a lot of problems (ADHD) plus serious anger about the loss of his father and now his mother to drugs, and soon my mom who has been taking care of him in Boston for two years. He gets into fights in school and it just a bit different, he's awesome, but unique. He's reads and spells like a kid in Jr. High they say, but he can't tie his shoelaces.
The only good thing is that he seems to worship me like a rock star because I'm the fun uncle and play legos with him and am basically a big kid myself. I have to admit that I didn't really like this kid that much until his last trip to Portland back in April. He was really cute and we bonded, but man everything is a struggle. I might have a nervous breakdown. I wish i could run away to Australia.
My wife and I are NOT going to London today because United Airlines sucks and cancelled our Boston to Newark flight.
Their solution had us flying tomorrow from Boston to Chicago, a several hour layover in Chicago, and then flying from Chicago to London for a total duration of over 22 hours. Really?
We called and after an hour of me telling the United Airlines reservation agent what flights to put us on and what seats were available (I was logged into united.com at the time because apparently it was too difficult for her to get the same information from the United Airlines reservation system she was using) we are back to going to London via Newark tomorrow with less than a 2 hour layover in Newark.
We have had it with United Airlines. This is not the first time they have messed up a vacation due to cancelled/changed flights with little notice. They suck. Yes, I know this is a 1st world problem because we are spending a week in London and then a week in Paris but staying an extra day in Boston is not the same as have our original day in London.

Came home from a trip to Oregon super late Monday night, unloaded my car, hauled stuff up to my apartment.
I go to reach for my toolbox to do some minor adjustments after bailing and getting a free gravel dermabrasion on last night's ride and odd, my toolbox isn't where it usually is.
I check my apartment, thinking I may have set the box down and left it somewhere else because I was too tired to sort everything after 8 hours of driving. Nope. I go back down to the street with a pen light and check both the back seat of my car where I had put the box during the trip and the trunk. Nope.
It then dawns on me that I may have unloaded the box and put it down in the street while I collected my other bags and left it there in the dark in my rush to get to bed. Fuck. I'm going to put up some posters in the neighborhood tonight, but I'm looking at a few hundred bucks to replace all my shit. There was a nearly-full bottle of NFS lube in there as well

Nevermind. My grumps are too small to mention.
Best wishes to those in need of a better day.

I don't understand why people use fabric softener on bath towels.
That's all I got.
That, and a huge amount of respect and good wishes for you, Shinomaster, and your nephew. I can't help thinking that kid is so lucky to have you, regardless of circumstances.

I couldn't tie my shoelaces either. Still fumble with fishing knots. Can't say I know why. My second grade teacher showed me the alternative method for tying shoes. Tie a regular knot. Then make two bunny ears, one with each lace end, and tie the two bunny ears together. So basically all the over and under and through stuff is bunk. One knot with the two lace ends, then another knot with the two lace ends in bunny ears.
You're doing the job of a saint, but being a saint is a pretty hard job. Doesn't pay well, includes a lot of suffering, usually makes you very tired, and you only get famous many years after you have left this green earth. So...enjoy it while you can!
Last day in Paris.

20 yo daughter.
Good kid, works hard, two jobs, begins 3rd year of psych major in the Fall, wants to be a veterans councillor, (I'm a VFW...what have I done?!?!?! ;) ).
Anyhow... Spoiled Italian American Princess.
About a year and a half ago we detected a black mold issue in the finished basement. Old house.
Baby girl wants her own space.
Soooooooo, out comes the wallet and many dinero later...full basement apartment is built.
She's a slob. I say, "keep it acceptable..."
Has a roommate who pays us, roomie is never here...so, for the last year place is never "acceptable," is at marginal or downright filthy. Asked pleasantly many times to get it together.
I pass the most recent complaint to Wife for imperative transmission to daughter...days go by, no action. Wife gets on phone with her and I hear the apple of my eye forcefully say, "Mom, you and Dad have no right to tell me how to live in my apartment..."
Did you see what looked like a Saturn V moon launch over the Bronx last week? That wasn't NASA.
Anyhow, I ripped her a new one, but what finally got to her was I photographed it and posted on Facebook, along with the bill from the General Contractor, as well as what I've laid out thus far in tuition...and I tagged her so that everyone she knows would see, and when she tried to reply I just deleted them and said, "No 1st. Amendment for you!!!"
So, I got her attention finally, she was mortified, as intended, and I told her to stuff her excuses where the sun don't shine, things got worse from there, "Fucking Bitch," was an adjective deployed in combination with "entitled" and I stand by it.
She dug in her heels, nasty text messages..tried to use Jedi psych-major mind tricks on me...then...
"I'm moving."
Me: "Good, when?"
Her (snotilly): "Soon!"
Me: "You have a month."
Her: (snotilly again) "It'll be sooner than that!"
Me: "Even better! By the way, make sure you fill out student loan applications as well."
She went to Mom and "WWWWHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA."
Mom/Wife has chiseled out an armistice, and I'm currently awaiting an unconditional apology.
To be continued...
(You have my sympathy Shinomaster...)

Bike related. Still can't dial in the Serotta, going to work on it again this weekend. It should be close to the Pegoretti based on a T-square and other measurements. I feel bunched up on it. I'm comfortable on the Pegoretti and can really turn some wattage but it was making some "replace the UT bearings" noise tonight. I'm bitching about a Pegoretti and a Serotta so overall, things aren't so bad.

our weather has been so different from forecasts. they have been calling for rain for the last month and we haven't gotten any. it makes planning a ride annoying.
90% chance of rain...all day. sure if its that probable I will drive.
that said, humidity is off the charts.
