After today out of the office for a week. Saturday night the subdudes at the Egg, Sunday night James Cotton in the park. Some time next week see my Mom and ride the dirt roads around the spawning grounds, some other time next week ride up around the back of Indian Lake and back to the Dorptown.
Plus I'm WFH and the small raccoons are out of the den and rassling up in the tree.
And I've been up since 2:30 with a problem and the vendor just got both their circuits back up. You know, the primary and backup hot-hot into data centers 600 miles apart. Yeah, they pay attention to their stuff.
contra my grump last thursday, I can hear in my right ear now. It's still healing, and there is packing behind my eardrum that has to make it's way out somehow, but it's pretty clear that my operation was successful.
I am taking off early today, the sun is back and my wife and daughters and I are heading to go see the Mitchell B-25 that is here for a few days (from Tempe, AZ) and then we're going to go find a restaurant on the beach and have a nice staycation kind of afternoon/evening.
Eating pounds and pounds of flathead cherries, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and tubing with the whole family and in-laws. Summer in Montana ain't bad.
Back in college one of my best friends told me how she’d ride the subways home toward Atlantic Beach from Manhattan late into the night, staring out the dirty windows at the city she loved.
She’s probably not going to be the one whose name ends up in the urban design books, but she’s the one who’s making this happen: Hey, Mister, I’ve Got a Park I Can Sell You. The new mayor just re-appointed her, so she’s going to be at it for a while longer.
It’s a fantastic success. I’m so proud of my friend. That NYT piece made my day.
GO!
we had a big cherry tree in our backyard when I was a kid. When they got ripe, we would sit up in that tree until we had to go into the house to take care of ... something. And then climb back up in the tree. It doesn't take long before the birds take care of the fruit if you don't get to it first
Because this is a cool way to spend a Friday afternoon ......
Rode 1,100 miles in July. Just slightly ahead of what I did last year, but about 20% more climbing. Now for some rest before I'm back at it, getting ready for some big rides in Sept.
