Some Soul Coughing came through my buddy's stereo on the way to a ride the other day and I dove back in. I've forgotten how good that drummer/bassist combo is and how subtly incredible the drummer is. Good grooves, sneaky polyrhythms and interesting changes.
The Wrecks, 'I want my life back now' and the catchy 'James Dean' are two highlights-think it's a couple of years old?

I fell back into Fishbone in a big way this week. Love that band so much and while searching for a show that was broadcast around 1992 I found this:
A rare night where I had the house to myself. Celebrated with some nice multichannel rock and roll played really loud
So good, but really needs some volume to pop.

What a great trumpet player he was. Beautiful sounds. He could twist almost anything out of that horn. The two takes of Totem Pole are the sound I have in my head most of the time.
Gosh, I wish I could play like him.
