A gazillion years ago when I was the monitor engineer for a Shawn Colvin concert, the opening act was this teenager named Rebecca Correia

...she absolutely killed. I don't normally remember the names of one-off warm-up acts 10 minutes after their set ends much less several years after the gig, but Rebecca's name really stuck with me. She was such a professional with stunningly well crafted original tunes and a delivery that was exquisite. I'm not sure how her career's proceeded since then (I just Googled her & it looks like she's still at it Rebecca Correia ) but she's practically the only artist I'd bother naming in a "I love chick singers" thread.

Saw Liz Phair and original Veruca Salt at Chicago's Metropolis venue on New Years ('93 maybe?) right before the Exile went big. Other than a few bouts of stage fright she really went all oot. This was one of the last pop shows I saw - I was getting into jazz, opera, classical big time around then. Really could not think of a better last dance.

They are marketing her as "indie," whatever that means, but there's nothing indie about her band. Hired guys, major endorsements.

She's ready for pop radio, amongst the 30-35 other products- ahem- I meant songs they have in rotation.

Just the attempt at making her "legit" is generating buzz, responsible for downloads, and clicks on advertisements all over the web.

Well done.
