Carhartt. Size down.

I know this is a brand that hasn't been popular the last few weeks but I just got one and it's really good - I'm long in the body so the tall size is great, definitely generous in sizing so one down makes sense. It's a sort of coarse fabric with a tight weave that is pretty windproof.

My only complaint is that the place I got it from put my work logo basically on the shoulder when it's supposed to be on the chest - but I'm trying hard to ignore that.

For WFH, I prefer to have at least some semblance of a collar on for zoom calls (flannel, rugby, long sleeve polo), and most of the day will wear an Outdoor Research hooded vest made with Polartec Alpha. I keep my office windows cracked and the temps a little cooler. Will ditch the vest for more “formal” conference calls.

My favourite is an older wings and horn that needs to be replaced. Made in Canada of Canadian tiger brand fleece. So soft and cozy.

I'm looking at either a iron heart or strike gold from selfedge as its replacement.

I'm still rocking an American Apparel hoodie I bought before their bankruptcy. Once this one wears out I'll probably get a similar hoodie from American Giant.

The J. Crew french terry hoodies are excellent. They're warm, and mine has lasted forever. I recommend!

My American Giant hoodie is like 3 times the weight and thickness of my old American Apparel hoodie. So much so that it’s been useless unless I’m traveling somewhere legitimately cold. That’s not a criticism of a warm hoodie is what you’re after, just wanted to note it.

Don’t have the hoodie versions from ibex, but I’m a big fan of their merino. Have numerous tops from them and many have lasted for years.

Yeah, I can't kill my t-shirts from them. But that sweatshirt is hearty. And I live in Miami, so...yeah.

I got my father a Patagonia Burly Man hoodie. It is pretty heavy duty. And part of Patagonia's transition to garments made to fit people 200lbs and heavier, which my father is not. However, he loves it, wears it birdwatching whenever the temp is below 70F and I think probably sleeps in it. Max insulation, durable outer surface and (most important for him) large pockets.

I dislike sweats (feels too much like a kid wearing pajamas) and so am partial to non-sweatshirt hoodies like the Patagonia Nano Puff hoodies or Patagonia Techface hoodies (come in R1 and R2 insulation thickness).

I just got a Rapha Pro Team Transfer hoodie on sale. Interesting sort of cotton string woven fabric. So far I like it. Also got one of Rapha's mechanic's jackets so that will be a good one-two layer spring thing. Everything has thorns around here, so having a canvas outer layer is a good idea.

When I goto this link, sale prices appear. When going to the product via the Rapha website, only the full priced product appears. Until you posted this, I didn't realize there is some secret sauce (aka they don't use the word sale). I'm trying the Rapha hoodie. We'll see how this fits my less than cycling normal physique. i.e. I look more like a meatball than a traditional cyclist.

Even if the Rapha hoodie works out, given my current wardrobe changes, its possible this will not be the only hoodie purchased. Thanks for the feedback. Keep the discussion going!

They call it "Archive" and if you are lucky, overpriced (for me) stuff is 50% off which makes it reasonable (also for me.)
