I was out of town working in oil country for some time. Finally got a little time this weekend to mount the fenders and underside spare tire cable-box-thingy. I will admit, I effed something up. Not aware of where the weld splatter was going, one of the windows was pitted from the hot splatter. It's purely cosmetic, but pisses a guy off.

The additional weight of the spare tire towards the tongue has improved the towability and ride!

I knocked out a 320 mile round trip to do a little overnight camping and riding in the Bandlands of North Dakota this weekend. The weather has been far too nice not to get out! The camper tracked straight and rode nicely being towed behind my Outback at 65mph. Gravel roads, washboard conditions... no problem. Once I got to the campground, I set down the jacks, leveled it up, turned on battery power and opened the hatch. Only taking a few minutes to set up, I got to drinking beer even sooner! I will say, since the temperatures dropped below 30 degrees, I will now close the hatch and crack a window to aid in retaining heat. Overall, it was not terrible and definitely not a design issue. I am so freaking stoked about this thing.

Now that you have the camper out in the wild, I'm dropping the possibly. This is definitely my favorite thread and I'm supremely jealous.

As for cold weather, throw a down comforter in there and say night night.

I like the face on the back!

dually, did dual tires figure into any planning stages? I've seen too many trailers on the side of the road with a flat tire and lots of drag damage.

No, it was never considered and I can't see it being an issue. Being these are not retreads (car radials) and I monitor tire pressure, the only issue I can foresee is a flat, for which I am prepared. The extra weight and rolling resistance would certainly put a little more strain on my 2.5L Outback.

I have some angry eyebrows to go above the tail lights!

Those are beautiful trailers.. the $18k pricetag.. not so much! I love the vista window, and maybe in the next build we can include something like that

Yes it is very expensive (commercial products are like that...), but I like the windows and the more flexible layout than the other ones i was looking at.

Seen this morning here in Los Barriles. Pretty obviously home-made but neat and tidy nonetheless.
