This got me looking around for analogs of non-veg things from my childhood. This is supposedly a good veggie Reuben here in Chicago. I think I'll go looking for one...

The Radical Reuben Recipe + The New Chicago Diner Cookbook - Cadry's Kitchen

As a former Chicagoan and current vegan (about 6 years now, veg for about 6 before that), that place is on my hit-list every time I visit family or friends. I was just there about two weeks ago and had the Rueben. It's damn good. Not sure how it compares to a "real" rueben as it's been some 12 years since I've had one, but it's pretty spectacular.

I'm a recent convert, only in about a month, though have been close to vego a number of times in my life. I'm a 41 year old, diabetic and have an aversion to seafood, mushrooms and now meat. I like long walks on the beach....

Searching through here for vegetarian recipes I see that there a quite a few long term vegetarians so thought I'd hit you guys up for some fresh, easy to prepare vegitarian recipes.

I won't break copyright laws with specific recipes, but if you're building a small cookbook library, I would absolutely add the Silk Road cookbook to the top of your list. There is a recipe from Georgia (the country) for a dried cherry pilaf with saffron and pistachios (pictured on the book cover) that will... well, just say it's really good. So is the rest of the book, I found it when they were promoting it at one of the Smithsonian summer events a few years back.
