Dropouts...get different ones. I'm finishing up a review on a Slingshot that uses those same dropouts (and CS and CS yoke maybe?) and they're ugly. The part that sticks up above the seat stay is what bothers me most I think.

Agreed. That back end is less refined than every other bike in this thread.

they're growing on me really. here's the thing- my mountain bike is designed as a cross country bike and i needed it to be compatible with the lightest wheels which are all 135mm spaced- i needed the rear end to be stiff and let's not forget we've got a disc brake working back there which also puts all sorts of weird forces on a frame where you don't want them. ricky and i probably would have designed and machined a proprietary drop out like we did the seat stay yoke- had this thing not been as good as anything we could come up with in terms of function- we'd have done it.

personally, almost without exception every disc brake mountain bike drop-out developed and used by people in the hand made industry scares the living fuck out of me. most of them don't have nearly enough meat to function as drop-outs let alone as bracing points for a disc brake caliper.

so- i'm sorry you guys hate how it looks- but it works and it's a mountain bike. i think when you guys see it built up you'll be a bit more impressed. i'm pleased with it anyway.

so yeah- it'd be awesome if i could do a loop style yeti rear end or some plate drop-out with my girlfriend's name or a my favorite suite of cards laser cut in to it- but that would be a functional impairment and that's not the way we role.

Just make sure the ISP measurement from bb is roughly 72 from bb to rails and I would happy to ride it :)

yeah- zip ties for the hydraulics and zip ties w/ full length housing for the derailleurs. with the 1:1 actuation of sram and how dialed the new shimano stuff is- i'm of the opinion that the loss in performance in dry conditions of a fully sealed system is not worth the loss of performance in the mud and muck. the secret there is to use shimano xtr/dura-ace cables and housing.

the two we've built so far are both designed around an 80mm travel fork...but i could alter the design to suit a 100mm. in reality, the ride height between most modern xc forks whether they are 80mm or 100mm travel is pretty close.

now i will have to go home and for the first time since 2001 look at the dropouts on my intense tracer and decide if they are good looking or not. goddamnit. expect to see a mtb on the classifieds soon if i realize i've been riding an ugly bike for 10 years.

I see that my MTB reputation precedes me.

VTT is French. I'm no expert but I don't think the Italians are as concerned with foreign terms, so as far as I know, "mountain bike" is English for "il mountain bike."
