Don't think I knew that Patrick O'Hearn -- former member of Group 87, Frank Zappa's band, and Missing Persons, later turned New Age synthesizer solo artist -- had ever played bass with jazz drummer extraordinaire Tony Williams. But apparently they recorded this album (along with keyboardist Tom Grant) in 1980:

Friend sent this to me. Admirable experimentation. Some melodic repetition but her best work is when she kind of breaks it. Stutter steps and mixes in triplets.

Earlier today and for the first time in years, The Blue Mask.
Goddamn it's great. Lou gets inspiration from the new generation of musicians he'd inspired. Plus that amazing band!

Then I saw this record came out 28 years ago today.
It's a perfect cross between punk and funk, and the insightful, brutal lyrics about dysfunction in love & sex keep up with the incendiary music.
