I think they mean Mexican ones!
Here's the current table selection at Coconino World HQ - note the jar of chiltpines with spoon for handling + crusher - " Cucharada y Molido" traditional chili paraphinalia made from native Sonoran Ironwood. So heavy it sinks.

For some reason I'm a little addicted to that garlic chili nonsense. It's not very good quality but it sure is something!!!
I'm envious, because jealousy is so unbecoming, of your chiltpines.
FWIIW there is eastern ironwood ((American hornbeam) in the Appalachian mtns. As kids we learned to identify tons of trees and these were highly sought after for hiking sticks.

So in addition to the beer/burbon/bbq tastings at NAHBS this year, will we also be sampling hot sauces/salsas?

Garro's stock going up is like 11 getting louder. Lavi, your salsa tasting will be at the salsa bar at Jimboy's. They even provide the little plastic shot glasses. This means nothing unless you have spent an appreciable time slumming in Sacramento. I love Jimboy's.

Sounds like a place to definitely check out.

Instead of Sacramento, I typically prefer to hang in Stockton...way better chance of getting killed there.

My brother still lives in Stockton. My parents lived there for nearly 20 years. I know Stockton well.

I'm just messing around. Based on my extremely limited knowledge of Stockton (driving through and staying in seedy Motel 6's), I've been scared a few times.

Being scared of Stockton is good. There are some frightening parts, especially near the motel 6 locations (i.e. Charter Way/Hwy4).

When my folks first moved there in 1981, they had about 50 homicides for the year. At that time the population was about 150000. The whole central valley is pretty sketchy.

    Getting this back on track....

Given past success diving for discount hot sauce at the local stop and pop I got a bottle of Frank's Redhot Xtra Hot.
Mehhhhhh, the heat is there but it tastes like industrial waste. I only used about 1/4 of the bottle ;) Seriously not that good. Pass

When I slow down I'm traveling Latin America to find & import lesser known salsas.
No, I'm not kidding. That pic is in one of the hotsauce hotspots, Caborca, Sonora.
I gotta perouse the town for a sampling of stuff but expect a box in the next few weeks. it's gonna take that much time to collect some faves & pack them in...........Chilis.

I grew up with Crystal Hot Sauce from New Orleans and Tabasco from Avery Island. However, my favorite is Cholula and Tabasco Chipolte.
