Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife

I just finished sharpening and this thread needed some life. ;-)

Here are my Benchmades. Working from the bottom: *Edit - vSalon hates pics from my phone, work from the right.

1: My first, a 905 "Mini-Stryker. I bought this in 95 or 96 so it's almost 20 years old (EDC duty from day-one). Back then I really wanted a CQC7 but couldn't afford one so this was the closest I could get (and a much more practical size). It came with a black blade which at some point I took off then later stonewashed in the dryer. I've used this thing so much I've just about sharpened the serrations right off it! It has been with me on so many of my adventures, I would be devastated if I lost it so as of tonight it's going off permanent EDC rotation.

2: Benchmade 940. Best knife I've ever used - the axis lock was revolutionary (vs a line-locker). My sister calls this one "Barney" because the ti back spacer is purple. I've had it at least 10 years now, it's been my go-to knife for most of that. For the last couple-three years it's been in steady rotation with the 905 depending on my mood. IMHO it's a little big for my edc needs (and technically a little long as well), but this is my favorite knife by far.

3: Not sure what the number is on this one. Technically it's my wife's (birthday gift from my brother), but it's my 'Church duty' knife. Nice and small (super thin), hides well in a suit.

4: My brother gifted a pair of these 733s to Heather and I for our wedding. I've never used either one, but boy-howdy they sure are pretty!

The only thing, aside from a sock-like cotton tie and a pair of suspenders, that I collected when my grandpa died was his "Old Timer" knife. Lovely little thing. Him being a master carpenter, this piece had seen some use and he kept it very sharp. I think I've only ever used it to clean my nails haha.

I just added a GEC #72 to the rotation. Probably bigger then most suit knifes, but a fair bit smaller then the current trend. Traditional materials and construction. This will be day three in the pocket- so far so good.

I have three Ti Spyderco Sage2's. To me these are perfect for EDC: Ti keeps it light, S30V is durable and holds its edge, muted colors are understated. Amazon has these at a good price right now. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I ended up with the Cadet, no one ever blinks an eye at it. Plus it has a can opener in case I need to open a can of spinach and get all popeye.

I've had a Ricardo pocket knife for the past decade and like it. No bottle/can opener, but it does have a corkscrew the wine aficionado.





They're now known as Richartz and still make this model as well as a couple others.

I like my opinel #6. Gave it some Sriracha sauce to protect the blade from corrosion.

Didn't look at the whole thread but my favorite in the Gentleman’s pocket knife class is the Chris Reeve Sebenza, probably the smaller model with 2.94 inch blade.

Pretty sure I still have it but found it to draw unwanted attention when I carried it at work.

What I'd really like is a Sebenza (small) with the damascus basket weave blade. That'd be full on pimp but I spent my Xmas slushfund on bike stuff so it'll have to wait.

I am a fan of the Case Canoe Knife. It's sized just right to be useful in most situations and easy to carry in a pocket. It looks cool too image1.jpg
