Some kind of major prop plane overhead. I am guessing it is a NOAA plane or similar. Can't see it but when the wind is in the right direction, I can sure hear it. Has a bass note that shakes the house. The wind must be a bit hard on the steering. Wind is swinging around to the north - northeast, so we are on our way. Speed should pick up quite a bit in the next several hours.
1. You only get lifetime epic ride points if you do a normal ride. Pls refer to TT pics and ride report on the Hurricane tested Curt Goodrich. TT gets lifetime epic points, but I think that he probably has a few already. This is my rule, so assign whatever value to it that you want. Meaning not very much.
2. Chase...don't you have a hole in your roof? Are you going to be working a water feature or something? Post pics of the dog.
Hey neighbor, over here in Rye, NY were are on top of the hill which exposes us to the wind but makes flooding a non-issue. So far we've been looking for movies to download while we sit on the couch and drink the rest of the Gallon of sangria we made yesterday. A Saranac winter 12 pack and half of a bottle of Woodford reserve is all we have left to keep us alive over the next few days.
That WeatherChannel guy usually goes where there's going to be the most carnage. When he's in town - you'd better get the f out.
A fews days since this storm went up the coast and the intracoastal waters are still flooded.
Good luck PA, NJ, DE, NY, MD, and VA.
Auk's words to live by:
Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.
Ok there are at least 4 bars open. There's another I haven't walked by that I am sure is also open. I've got power, and I just went through a gallon of clorox cleaning my bathroom. Things are looking up.
How's the surf in the Gowanus?
Go hit the bar.
Darren asked for a photo update and I almost got blown off of my roof.

My 4 year old son says to me, "Papa, come take a look at the branch that fell in our yard"

Understatement of the day, and we're not even getting the worst of it yet. Thankfully it fell away from the house. The tree has been pushing up the sidewalk for years so it's not a surprise. What was surprising is that the town tree crew was on scene and had it disposed of within 90 minutes.
I was contemplating sneaking out for a quick ride this evening if the rain rain subsided, but my wife tells me there are tons of power lines hanging low in the roadways.
I took some photos on the East River. I'll post them once I'm done with some work.
That was before. I think you can actually see the wind coming at me. I'm going back out in an hour to see high tide.
Well my internet's down but I saw lower Manhattan go dark and that doesn't happen every day. Also saw an explosion at that electricity substation you see in the photo above, which led to much more of Manhattan going dark.
Chase: your block flooded up there? Franklin is quite moist between you and I.
Can't wait to go through my photos in the morning.
