I spent a couple of weeks down at Indian Creek. The time was spent with, recently passed, Ginseng Jack and his friend April. They made a living, him sengin' and her hunting dry land fish. She also spent time with other fungi. These folks lived back in the fucking holler.

I was there building a sculpture for the rest area on I-40, it was for the governors wife, a donation for the arts. I built a huge stainless steel sundial. None of that matters, just background. Anyway, as we were setting the sculpture April had the momentous idea we 'celebrate' it was either moonshine or the next dimension... We chose the latter.. I lost 3 months that day. I remember driving a backhoe down the median of the interstate with what I thought was a huge stone to place next to the sculpture. Now every time I stop to visit the sculpture, or take a leak I look at this pebble I could have Hand carried to the rest area... Good news is the sundial is within 2 minutes of accurate, I do remember the week I sat there that day doing the math... God, time stopped.. Ironic I guess.

If you are ever traveling between Nashville and Knoxville, stop at the rest area at mile 266 and get it, get all of it.

My mom was a biochemist. Her version was > whatever the label states (chem supplies) is the major contaminant.

I keep thinking that this is a conspiracy and some sort of code is hidden in the message. Since they meet right down the road from me, perhaps I'll stop by.

I still think that if you find a bunch of shrooms growing out of a dog pile (like in the OP picture, as Too Tall clearly pointed out), you'd be better off just doing a few more miles until your are really worn out, then eating the pizza with those pizza (artificial) mushrooms. A puffball or a morel is a different matter, though. Stop the car for those young puffballs.

Just imagine if these were magic mushrooms rather than Agaricus bisporus.

Eat one live toad first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you all day.

Don't eat something if you don't know if their edible or not, and pictures could mislead people because of image distortion, lighting, etc., could make something look edible and then we say "sure it is, eat it" then you get really sick and/or die, while those of us here would wonder why you never came back to the forum!

So don't eat it if you're not 100% sure YOURSELF.

There are websites that give you clue as to which are good and which are not, but that isn't always fool proof either, just buy them in a store unless you want to learn survival skills then it's best to have an expert show you in the wild.
